Baptism Nails and makeup of the day

Hi everyone! Kind of a late in the day post, I know. But I wanted to share with you my nails that I wore today for Henry’s baptism and my makeup. Life update at the end of this post!

Sinful Colors Stoned Crystal Shimmer Just Deserts, Femme Fatale Cosmetics Hourglass | Be Happy And Buy Polish

I wanted something delicate since my outfit was kind of loud. LOL. I started with 3 coats of Sinful Colors Just Deserts from the Stoned Crystal Shimmer collection. It is slightly more pink in real life. (I’m really hoping to get swatches done of this collection this week, btw.) Then I added an iridescent glitter stud to the nails with Just Deserts on them.  Continue reading

For my lippie, I used ColourPop in Mess Around.

I liked this neutral take on my makeup look – I think it looks very flattering with my red hair! What do you think?

Easter FOTD with Urban Decay Vice Palette eyeshadows Fast-Ball, 1985, Underhand

Purchased by Me buttonHi everyone! I thought I’d show you my makeup look from Easter Sunday. I hope you don’t mind that I’m branching out more into makeup & beauty looks. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing and now that I think my skills are improving, I like to show what I’ve been creating. As a pale redhead, I’ve always been scared to try out looks that are more colorful, but I’m trying to be bold!

EOTD Urban Decay Fast-Ball, 1985, Underhand | Be Happy And Buy Polish

I started off with a sticky base with NYX Cosmetics eyeshadow stick in Milk. Then I used Urban Decay Fast-Ball on the inner lid and 1985 on the outer lid.

In the crease and outer corner, I used Urban Decay Underhand. One of the last steps was to use UD Discreet on the brow bone and an unnamed white from BH Cosmetics in the inner corner.

I used L’Oreal Infallible eyeliner for my tight line/waterline, and Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Thick/Thin eyeliner as my regular liner. Mascara used was UD Perversion.

I’d love to know what you think of my bolder look! 🙂

What’s In My Travel Bag: Makeup Edition

Press Sample buttonGood morning! This week, I’m talking about “What’s In My Travel Bag” since I’ll be traveling soon. Today I’m sharing with you what I consider to be my makeup essentials for traveling.

What's In My Makeup Travel Bag | Be Happy And Buy Polish

My requirements for what goes in my makeup bag: 1) it has to be something I will actually use, 2) no repeats (double blush, double bronzer, etc),  3) it has to be a necessity, and 4) I can’t go buy something new just for the trip.

e.l.f. Jasmine “A Whole New World” Beauty Book

Purchased by Me buttonGood afternoon! I hope you are ready for the weekend, baby, because it’s almost here. 😀 My family is meeting another family for dinner tonight, and I’m really excited. Actual adult conversations will take place! For tonight, I’ve created a simple look with the e.l.f. Jasmine “A Whole New World” Beauty Book that is available now in drugstores (I bought mine at Walgreens).

I’m beginning to have quite a few of these palettes that e.l.f. is putting out. I have the Good & Evil palette, Snow White, and Ariel palettes as well. (Let me know if you’d like to see those as well, even though they aren’t available still in stores.)

e.l.f. Jasmine Beauty Book eyeshadows | Be Happy And Buy Polish

This one comes with 7 eyeshadows, an applicator, eyeliner pencil, a blush, a contour, a brush, and a lip gloss.

I gotta tell you, I don’t care for the applicator, eyeliner, brush, or lip gloss. I don’t have good luck with e.l.f.’s eyeliners and I hate lip glosses (almost across the board). It should go without saying not to use rinky-dink applicators or brushes that come in these palettes.

From top to bottom: Genie, Aladdin, Jafar. I must say that my camera muted the tones of these three – they are much brighter in person.

Top is Royal Palace, bottom is Forbidden Treasure. Royal Palace has little gold specks in it that I quite like.

For my look, I went with Abu on the brow bone, Rajah on the lid, and Lago in the crease.

I used Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Stag, and Urban Decay Perversion mascara.

My overall look – I decided to use the lip gloss to show you what it is like. It just barely tints my lips. Though I didn’t care for the lip gloss or the eyeliner, all in all, this is really a palette I enjoy. If you missed my post earlier today with the e.l.f. Jasmine nail polishes, be sure to check it out. I’d like to know what you think of today’s look!

Tomorrow morning, I’m taking my kids to listen to a live performance of Peter & the Wolf – definitely excited for that. Any fun plans for yourself this weekend?

Simple FOTD with Urban Decay Naked On The Run

Purchased by Me buttonGood afternoon everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I’m back this afternoon with a simple makeup look with the new Urban Decay Naked On the Run. I do love the Naked sets from Urban Decay (though I only have this and the first Naked palette). Let’s check everything out in the pan first!

I’ve used Virgin on my brow bone and inner corner, Sin above the crease, Dive on the lid, and Stun in the outer vee. I also used Stag and Perversion mascara.

A close-up, and forgive me for my scary eyebrows! I have an upcoming appointment to get them waxed and tinted soon.

Overall, I’m pleased with this set. The case has a nice heavy feel to it, and it clasps shut securely. I love how big the mirror is as well! I am a little disappointed with how much fall out there seemed to be with 5050, Dive, and Stun.

Have you picked up this set? Do you think you will?

June/July Challenge: Skittle and Neon

Okay, still on the catching up part of the June/July challenge. Here’s the list, in case you missed the earlier post today:

junejulynailchallenge

I decided to do the neon and skittle challenges together, as I have a neon set from Urban Decay that was perfect for this. I used China Glaze Dandy Lyin Around as a base color, then used Urban Decay Woodstock (hot pink), Covet (green), Showboat (orange), Radium (blue), Fishnet (purple).

China Glaze Dandy Lyin’ Around is a great glittery white, but man, is it hard to work with! I used two coats as a base, and it was patchy. It’s also a PITA to take off because of the tiny glittery particles.

Outside, sunlight, no flash:

I wasn’t too worried about making it perfect since I was going to do neons over it. I used two coats of each neon color over the white.

Outside, sunshine, no flash:

These colors are just insanely bright. The ones that aren’t too bright (the blue and green) were helped along a bit by the glittery-ness of Dandy Lyin’ Around. These are insanely in-yo-face colors, so I don’t think I’d be wearing them every day – but I can’t wait to try them out in a pedicure! What do you think?

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the other posts that all the beautiful ladies are posting!

I’ll have another mani from this challenge on Saturday! As always,
