Good morning all! Over the next few Mondays, I’m going to have guest posts from some helpful bloggers. I hope you enjoy reading these fantastic posts. Today you get to hear from my friend Jenne at Polished Pathology!
Top Shelf Lacquer Shower Bombs – Purchased By Me
Today I have a great new product to share with you from Top Shelf Lacquer, the Top Shelf Lacquer Shower Bombs! The new year brought in a bout of pneumonia that I’ve been slowly recovering from, and when I saw her come out with these I snapped up two packs. They are so great — and I’ll give you my review after the photos!
Morning all! I created this manicure awhile back and I just was never happy with how it turned out, hence my hesitation in showing it to you. Sometimes what’s in my head doesn’t match what ends up on my nails and it’s super disappointing. Let’s take a look at this manicure with Ever After 2 Peace In a Pod, Baroness X Dioscouri, Baroness X Glass Beach, and Top Shelf Lacquer Sarasota Lemonade.
I started off with Ever After 2 Peace In a Pod on all fingers except my thumb and ring finger. This polish was created to mimic the ever-sought after YSL Peace Green. I had quite a bit of trouble with the formula on this one, it was uneven and got thicker as I was applying it. This is 3 coats and no top coat. Continue reading
Good morning my wonderful readers! Today I have a mani where I kind of just went with the flow with no real plan in mind and ended up in a good place! Read on for more details about this manicure with Pretty & Polished Barnwood Builder and Top Shelf Lacquer Fireball.
I started with 3 coats plus top coat of Pretty & Polished Barnwood Builder. This is a thermal polish, but tbh, I didn’t even try to capture the thermal this time around. Limited time, kids wanted attention, blah blah blah. You can see a bit of change at the tips. Anyway! Formula was a bit uneven but not bad. It was more green-gray than I expected though.
I then used kitty cat stencils from KBShimmer with Top Shelf Lacquer Fireball [March 2016 Hella Holo Customs exclusive] and quatrefoil stencils from uhhh gosh, I don’t remember where I bought them from. LOL!
Lastly, I stuck a kitty cat nail charm from Daily Charme on my middle finger.
Even though those quatrefoil stencils didn’t really turn out right, I really liked the sassiness of this manicure. What do you think?
Hi everyone! I’ve been having troubles lately with quick dry top coats just not working out – Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That was my main squeeze, which stopped working; then Darling Diva Polish PETC became my love and it stopped working for me. I thought I’d do a little QDTC challenge between 4 brands: Dreamland Lacquer, KBShimmer, Paint Box Polish, and Top Shelf Lacquer. I’ll show you the results after 5 days of wear in just a moment but let’s talk about ship times, then application, then wear time.
Keep in mind that every person’s body chemistry is different, and your mileage may vary – this is only a reporting of how these top coats worked with me.
Dreamland: Ordered on a Saturday, received the following Saturday
KBShimmer: Ordered on a Sunday, received on Thursday
Paint Box Polish: Ordered on a Saturday, received on Thursday; my order also included a mani bomb, which was a nice touch
Top Shelf Lacquer: (Older order but I’m sure I received my order within 3 days of purchase.)
I used each top coat over a layered manicure: 2 coats of China Glaze Midtown Magic, 1 layer of Baroness X Opulent Oddity, 1 layer of Baroness X Dulcinea.
It must be Hella Holo Customs week here on the blog, because I have another HHC nail polish, this time from Top Shelf Lacquer called No One Fights Alone. This was one of the polishes available only for the month of October.
No One Fights Alone is a “deep purple color, with a teal flash and a linear holo.”
This is 2 coats plus top coat. I found it to apply a little unevenly. The teal is very pretty though.
Unfortunately this is no longer available, but you might be able to snag one for sale in the Hella Holo Customs Chat, ISO, & Re-Homing group on Facebook.
Hi everyone! I’m digging this post out of the archives – I just realized I never shared my first attempt at reciprocal gradients with you. I used Firecracker Lacquer The Grape Beyond and Top Shelf Lacquer Blackberry Margarita for this nail art.
I started off with The Grape Beyond [swatched previously]. I then created a gradient with Blackberry Margarita.
Then using straight line nail vinyls, I created a plaid pattern and did the gradient the opposite way.
It didn’t come out too bad, though my husband remarked “I don’t really see anything special.” Grr!
Here’s Top Shelf Lacquer Blackberry Margarita by itself. It’s described as a “rich navy linear holo jelly with an prominent flair that glistens fabulously.”
Formula was pretty good! This is 2 coats plus top coat.
Both these polishes are still in stock – The Grape Beyond here and Blackberry Margarita here – if you want to try your hand at this!
