Hi everyone! So my friend Kate has been helping me find makeup looks to try my hand at and so today’s inspiration comes from soyih on instagram. I’ve used Glamour Doll Eyes shadows in lovesick, Coquette, Mackinac, and ‘Til Death; I’ve also used GDE products Peach is the New Blush, Ms. Monroe, So Fetch.
A cold hello to you all this morning. It’s going to be a bitterly cold weekend here and I’m going to be hibernating while trying not to kill bored children (snow day today, whee!). Anyway, I have a mainstream polish I picked up a month or two ago – Revlon Magnetic to show you today.
Magnetic is a nice mainstream color shifting polish with blue glitters. I’m sure you could build this up by itself but I’m showing Magnetic 1 coat plus top coat over Revlon Oi Beautiful [previously swatched].
This has a fairly nice color shift from dark purple to a reddish color. Formula is of good thickness, though a little uneven. It does dry fast and matte.
Although I liked how this looked in the bottle, the unevenness of the formula was a little off-putting and it’s a bit too frosty looking for my taste. What do you think of it?
On the left is Passion and on the right is Seduction. I found the formula of these strange. They went on kind of thick but spread nicely. But they aren’t matte by my definition. They have a sheen to them, and they never dry. I guess the good thing is that they don’t dry out your lips like traditional matte lip products?
I used Seduction in a makeup look awhile back and I really do like the way it looks on me, I can find other matte lip products that are actually matte.
Would you like a close up of my lips? Oops, too late. 😛 At any rate, Seduction is actually much lighter on me than my swatches above show – of course, getting color accurate swatches is always a pain in the rear.
In case you’re wondering about my eye makeup, I’m wearing Urban Decay Grasshopper (brighter green) + Crowbar (crease), L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner (tight line), CoverGirl Intensify Me! eyeliner (wing & top liner).
All in all, I guess I’d have to give Revlon Ultra HD Matte LipColor a pass. Good thing I only bought 2 of them, if I’d shelled out more money, I’d be upset! What do you think about these new lippies that are marketed as “matte” but aren’t?
Untamed is a blackened duochrome base with pink specks and larger bronze flakes.
This is 2 coats plus top coat. It dries really fast, and the formula is fairly thick. The base is almost a little too dark, because it seems muddy looking.
This is a promising nail polish from a mainstream company, which is why I picked it up. I really hope more drugstore brands start coming out with more interesting polishes like this.
What are your thoughts of this polish?
Happy Friday to you!! Isn’t it nice to finally be Friday? Today I have the perfect 3 bright nail polishes to show you that I picked up from Ross awhile back (for the awesome price of $7 for a pack of four – it also included a base coat). I’m not sure what collection Revlon Copa Sunset, Oi Beautiful, and Carioca Crush are from – or even if they are – but let’s see them!
Copa Sunset is a super bright pink coral nail polish. This is 2 coats with no top coat.
Oi Beautiful is a tropical punchy purple that is warmer & brighter than my photo (ugh, thanks camera for non-color-accuracy). This is 3 thin coats and no top coat.
Carioca Crush is a stunning bright blue that reminds me of neon blue lights. This is also 3 coats and no top coat.
These three polishes really do invoke a feeling of tropical hot summer nights and I’m glad I found them at a great price. Which one is your favorite here?
During the month of August, Bloglovin’ is running a contest to see who can gain the most followers in a month. I’d love if you gave me a follow over there! Plus, Bloglovin’ is the easiest way (in my opinion) to keep up with all the different blogs you read. Follow me here! 😀
Happy Tuesday everyone! Tuesday? Yes, it can be a happy Tuesday, right? Why not, it isn’t Monday! Annnnyway, today I have three Revlon polishes from the Spiderman Electric Chrome collection that I picked up from Dollar Tree. I didn’t ever pick them up the first time around, but who can seriously resist when they are a $1?!
1000 Volts is first, this is a really lovely amber with pink and gold shifts.
I was surprised, this is my favorite of the three! This is 2 coats, no top coat.
Next is Electrified Web, a burnt orange with gold shift, and pink undertones.
This is 2 coats, no top coat. Not really a fan here. LOL
Last is Super-Powered, a navy blue with slight purple shift and silvery undertone.
This is also 2 coats, no top coat. I do like this one as well.
I know there were 2 or 3 others in this collection, and while I wish I could have found them all at Dollar Tree, that’s the way it goes sometimes, right?
Did you ever spot this collection when it was in stores, or pick any of them up? I’d love to know which one was your favorite!
Hey it’s finally Friday! Though moms all around the world say
Am I right, or am I right, moms? Anyway, to celebrate today, how about we have a “flashback” to a beautiful Revlon nail polish: Emerald City.
I can’t quite remember when I picked this up, only that I purchased it at Big Lots for a whole $2 (it was in a two-pack, so technically each one was a $1). Here it is, in its natural state with no top coat. Such luscious green polish!
I did add a top coat and I love it even more! It almost has a slight duochrome thing going on, and I just am kicking myself for not trying this polish out sooner.
Have you ever had the experience where you finally put on a polish and just regret not using it right away? I’d love to hear your experiences!
