Hi everyone! Kind of a late in the day post, I know. But I wanted to share with you my nails that I wore today for Henry’s baptism and my makeup. Life update at the end of this post!
I wanted something delicate since my outfit was kind of loud. LOL. I started with 3 coats of Sinful Colors Just Deserts from the Stoned Crystal Shimmer collection. It is slightly more pink in real life. (I’m really hoping to get swatches done of this collection this week, btw.) Then I added an iridescent glitter stud to the nails with Just Deserts on them. Morning all! I have my third Glamour Doll Eyes insider look of the month to show you with the eyeshadows IT’S SO FLUFFY, Sex Appeal, and Tattooed Remix. Glamour Doll Eyes is an indie makeup company that pretty much rocks. I’ve been a fan for several years.
IT’S SO FLUFFY is a white-pink shimmer eyeshadow with blue sparkles. Described on the site: “sheer pale pink with a golden purple shift and blue sparkle.” Check out a previous insider post for arm swatches.
Sex Appeal is described by the site as “a gorgeous sparkle overlay of teal with a dark purple undertone.” [My bad, I didn’t get a separate pic of this!]
Tattooed Remix is a blurple eyeshadow (more purple than my photo) with green & gold sparkle. Described by the site as “a blue based purple with a pinky copper sheen and gold & green sparkle.” Check out my colored eyebrow post for arm swatches.
I used IT’S SO FLUFFY all over. I built up Tattooed Remix on my lid; applied it, blended it, applied, blended, etc ad nauseum. Continue reading
Hi everyone! I thought I’d show you my makeup look from Easter Sunday. I hope you don’t mind that I’m branching out more into makeup & beauty looks. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing and now that I think my skills are improving, I like to show what I’ve been creating. As a pale redhead, I’ve always been scared to try out looks that are more colorful, but I’m trying to be bold!
I started off with a sticky base with NYX Cosmetics eyeshadow stick in Milk. Then I used Urban Decay Fast-Ball on the inner lid and 1985 on the outer lid.
In the crease and outer corner, I used Urban Decay Underhand. One of the last steps was to use UD Discreet on the brow bone and an unnamed white from BH Cosmetics in the inner corner.
I used L’Oreal Infallible eyeliner for my tight line/waterline, and Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Thick/Thin eyeliner as my regular liner. Mascara used was UD Perversion.
I’d love to know what you think of my bolder look! 🙂
Hi everyone! I haven’t shared a makeup look with you in *forever* so I thought I’d share today’s look! I’m actually really chuffed on how it turned out, so read through to the end and let me know what you think in the comments. 🙂
All the shadows are from the Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette, which is a huge staple in my makeup looks. I started with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, then applied NYX cosmetics Strawberry Milk as a sticky base.
I then used Bare to Explore (light pink-purple) all over the lid into the crease and blended out. On the lash line into the crease in a curve, I used Make a Mauve (next over from Bare to Explore).
Then I used Plum Away With Me (next over from Make a Mauve) on the outside corner. (Of course, I blended out after each step.) Lastly, for a bit of brightness, I used Up to No Gold on the center of the lid.
I used Revlon Kohl eyeliner and lined my waterline – something I haven’t done in a hot minute but I need to get back into. I used Buxom mascara to finish off my eye look.
I also used the highlighter (Champagne), blush (Unleashed), and bronzer (Park Ave Princess) from the Tarte palette, they are just so gosh-darned flattering! For my lips, I started off with NYX Cosmetics soft matte lip cream in Abu Dhabi and topped it with MUFE Artist Plexi-Gloss in Sweet Pink.
If you’d like to see how I did my hair for today, I used this tutorial for a braided updo by Hair Romance, which I pinned to my Curly Hair ‘Dos board on pinterest (a lot of essentials there, so follow me!). It says it’s “fancy” but with my curly hair, it can look kinda messy. 😛
I know this is kind of a long post, but I was so excited that my hair AND makeup were on point today. 🙂 Do you get excited when your whole look is killing it?
Good morning! This week, I’m talking about “What’s In My Travel Bag” since I’ll be traveling soon. Today I’m sharing with you what I consider to be my makeup essentials for traveling.
My requirements for what goes in my makeup bag: 1) it has to be something I will actually use, 2) no repeats (double blush, double bronzer, etc), 3) it has to be a necessity, and 4) I can’t go buy something new just for the trip.
Hi, my awesome readers! I have so much fun playing with makeup and makeup looks, and sometimes I have a hard time finding reviews, swatches of makeup, or makeup looks for pale redheads. (Hey, natural redheads may be less than 2% of the general population, but we still want great makeup too!)
So, I thought I’d share more of my makeup looks on the actual blog (instead of just my instagram). It’s definitely not going to be every day, really just whenever I feel like sharing (and I have the time to snap a photo!). Don’t worry – nails and nail art will still be the main focus of this blog! That’s my first love and I’m still passionate about it.
For today’s look, I’ve used
- On my brow bone, Wet n Wild “base” from the Smoke & Melrose set
- On my eyelid, Wet n Wild “crease” from the Smoke & Melrose set
- In the outside vee, I’ve used TEEEZ Cosmetics in Sweet Sins
- Blush is Glamour Doll Eyes in Midlife Crisis
- Bronzer is Buxom Cosmetics in Tahiti
- Eyeliner is Milani Liquid Eye in 05 Brown
- Mascara is Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless in 001 Black (prize)
Smoke & Melrose is such a great 5-pan palette; I picked it up this summer/fall on a sale for $1.99. I do have a bit of fall out, but honestly, it’s a rocking palette for the money! Sweet Sins is a great duo chrome kind of shade: from a blue/green shade to a purplish red shade. It does have quite a bit of fall out though!
Lastly on my lips is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi:
Abu Dhabi is a bit more tan toned – not as orange as the picture shows. This is a fairly recent purchase, and my first Soft Matte Lip Cream from NYX. It does dry with a matte finish (uh derrr Jessica!), and it ends up drying out my lips after about 30 minutes or so.
I know my pictures aren’t the best, and I need to practice with color accuracy. I don’t photoshop or edit my photos other than cropping and adding my watermark. Keep in mind that I’m not a professional makeup artist (and I don’t claim to be). Please stick with me as I (hopefully) get better at this! 🙂
If you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see in a makeup post (please don’t say less of my face, LOL!) or just want to say hi, then please comment below. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello there! This is a follow-up post to the Lip Factory post of the other day.
I’ve used the following products to create today’s makeup look:
–Skin79 SuperBB VIP Gold Collection
–Skin79 Diamond BB UV Perfect BB Pact
–Ulta Cheek Color in Sweet Cheeks
–Benefit Watts Up Highlighter
–Physicians Formula Sexy Glow Bronzer
-Sephora Arch It Brow Kit (no longer available)
–NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
–JCat Eye Pencil in Charcoal
–Studio277 eyeshadow in Kryptonite (received in previous LF box)
-Ulta eyeshadow in Grey Smoke (no longer available)
–Manic Panic Creature of the Night mascara (received in previous LF box)
In the two following pictures, I have ModelCo lip gloss in StripTease on my lips:
I don’t really like the JCat eye pencil as an eye liner, but I think it will be a good “sticky” base underneath loose eyeshadow.
Close-up of ModelCo lip gloss in Striptease:
ModelCo lip gloss is a really really lovely nude lip gloss, and I’ve already used it several times since receiving the gloss.
The following picture, I’ve used Be a Bombshell Cosmetics lip gloss in Nude Beach on top of ModelCo Striptease:
Close-up of Bombshell lip gloss in Nude Beach:
The Bombshell lip gloss does add a bit of shimmer to the lips, without being overpowering.
I also did a comparison of the La Fresh makeup remover wipes to Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover:
La Fresh remover:
You can’t really tell a difference in the pictures, but it did seem like the La Fresh remover wipes removed the eye makeup a bit easier – I didn’t feel like I had to scrub my eye as hard. It also seemed to remove the mascara way better. The only thing is that I wish the wipes were smaller! In the above picture, I only used half the wipe. I just feel like it’s wasteful. (I might just cut the wipes in half.)
I hope this review was helpful! If you’d like to subscribe to Lip Factory, it is $22/month for U.S. subscribers, and you can sign up here. I would really appreciate if you used my referral number: 38343. Until tomorrow,
