Lucky 13 Lacquer They’re Eating Her, Then They’re Gonna Eat Me swatch + review

Purchased by Me buttonMorning everyone! For right now, I need to go to a M-W-F-Su posting schedule. I’m feeling very overwhelmed with life and stuff, so this works better right now. Anyway, with that out of the way, I have Lucky 13 Lacquer They’re Eating Her, Then They’re Gonna Eat Me!

I saw this in an indie polish group on Facebook and I just knew I needed to have it. This is such a beautifully green jelly polish with iridescent shards.

Formula was good, this is 3 coats plus top coat.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like this is stocked in the L13L shop right now. 😦 Maybe it’ll make a come back, but I kinda doubt it.

I hope you’re having a good week! Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments. 🙂

Lucky 13 Lacquer The War Doctor nail polish swatch + review

Purchased by Me buttonWow, this one has been in the pile for awhile – it’s about time I get around to showing you Lucky 13 Lacquer‘s The War Doctor! This has obviously been in the dock for awhile – it’s my old camera and old set up. Geez, why haven’t I posted this yet? It’s so pretty!

Lucky 13 Lacquer The War Doctor | Be Happy And Buy Polish

The War Doctor is described by the maker as a “red/orange/gold/black color shifting polish with linear holo effect.”

Formula on this was good, a bit too thick for my personal liking though. This is 3 thin coats plus top coat.

This polish is inspired by the actor John Hurt, as the War Doctor in Doctor Who.

Luckily for you (see what I did there?), The War Doctor is still in stock on Lucky13Lacquer.com.

Sometimes I feel like inspiration photos for polishes can hit the mark, but personally, I think this polish nails the inspiration. How has your experience been with polishes inspired by someone or something?

Lucky 13 Lacquer Fire Salt

Hi everyone! Today I have a really bright and beautiful polish by Lucky 13 Lacquer called Fire Salt.

Lucky 13 Lacquer Fire Salt | Be Happy And Buy Polish

Fire Salt is a “fiery orange crelly base with a blend of white, red, and gold holo squares.” It’s “inspired by the SUPER hot fire salt from the Steven Universe episode Joking Victim.”

I used 2 coats plus top coat for my photos. Formula was good, a bit thin for my personal tastes. I also had to fish for the glitters – those buggers just did not want to come out!

I purchased this from Lucky13Lacquer.com, but as of this writing, I’m not sure if this shade is still available. I love a good bright shade like this in winter, how about you?

Ghosts & Witches – Halloween #2

Today I have for you the second of my Halloween manicures: ghosts and witches.

For this manicure, I’ve used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls & OPI Black Onyx for the ghosts. For the witches, I used OPI Sit Under the Apple Tree as a base, then painted Lucky 13 Lacquer Fool of a Took over it. I used Black Onyx to black out areas for the faces, and used OPI Color So Hot It Berns for the tongues & eyes.

Lucky 13 Lacquer review

*Polishes reviewed were purchased by me.*
*Prize*

Good morning! I have some beautiful Lucky 13 Lacquer polishes for you today! 🙂 When Lucky 13 Lacquer was nearing her 666th sale, she gave away a full size Flame of Udun. Well, I didn’t win that, but I was 665, so I won a shortie size of Flame of Udun!

Let’s start with that. I tried using FoU by itself, but it is fairly sheer, so I started over. For undies, I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black on my ring and index finger, and 2 coats of Sinful Colors Coffee on my pinky and middle finger. Then on my pinky and ring fingers, I used one coat of FoU, and two coats on my middle and index fingers.

It’s hard to tell (mainly because my pictures suck today), but I do prefer FoU over black, with 2 coats. Otherwise, this applies nicely with no dragging problems.

I also bought “Fool of a Took” and “But I Want To Fight” – Lucky 13 Lacquer’s polishes for Merry & Pippin from the Lord of the Rings. I just re-watched The Fellowship of the Ring last night, and I was reminded how light-hearted and free Merry & Pippin were in the beginning, and how so much changed by the end of the movies. I think Pippin’s journey is the one that always makes me want to cry the most, out of the hobbits.

So, next up is Fool of a Took:

This is 2 normal coats, application was a breeze. This is topped by Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food, and HK Girl Topcoat. You’ll see this one again in a couple of days for one of my Halloween manicures!

Lastly is But I Want To Fight, Merry’s polish.
Lucky 13 Lacquer But I Want To Fight

I’ve used 3 thin coats here, with a coat of Glitter Food and then HK Girl. Application was a bit trickier here but the end result is so lovely!

What do you think of these three? You can find Lucky 13 Lacquer on facebook or at her shop (though she’s on vacation right now).

Starting tomorrow, I’ll have the first of some Halloween manicures that I can’t wait to show you! Until then,

Softening the Bad Things by Lucky 13 Lacquer

*Polish reviewed was self-purchased.*

Good morning all! I have a new to me polish brand today: Lucky 13 Lacquer. I first heard about this brand and in particular this polish from Accio Lacquer. Once I read Mish’s post about this polish, I knew I needed to have it. I won’t go into all gory details, but I have struggled with depression and anxiety over the past few years. It is such a hard thing to describe to someone who has never gone through either depression or anxiety but if you’d like to learn, I highly encourage you to read through these comics. I love all those, but this one really spoke to me:

tumblr_lvgeystE0q1qeoaa5o1_r1_1280

I sometimes have a really hard time expressing what I’m really thinking/feeling, especially to my friends and family. When I read the above “comic”, I just wanted to shout, “YES! This! This is how I feel! Why can’t you see it?!”

After reading Accio Lacquer’s post about this polish, I had to buy it. Lucky 13 Lacquer made a polish, Softening the Bad Things, based off a certain Dr. Who episode with Vincent van Gogh (which I haven’t made it to yet!). It is $1 more than her other polishes because that $1 from each bottle will be donated to the NAMI – National Alliance on Mental Illness.

The polish itself is really gorgeous – a robin’s egg blue, with golden hexes and small black dots. I’ve left it mattified in the picture above – mainly because I didn’t feel like being in a “shiny” mood, if you know what I mean. It applied really nicely, and I had no troubles getting any of the glitters out.

The week that I wore this polish, was a week that I’ve been struggling more so than I usually have been, and every time I looked at my fingers, in some strange way, I felt less alone.

You can find Lucky 13 Lacquers at her shop, and on facebook.

If you struggle with anxiety or depression, please know you’re not alone. Please know that there is someone else who struggles too.

Until the next time,
