Oomph, you all. Like, just dang. This mani was a literal galaxy manicure without really having to do a damn thing. Let’s back up and start at the beginning. Continue reading
KBShimmer Just a Phase, 2 coats plus top coat
KBShimmer Sun & Games, 2 coats
KBShimmer Dressed to Gild, 1 coat over S&G plus matte top coat plus quick dry top coat
KBShimmer Beach Please sponged over white
KBShimmer swirl water slide decal
I had a ton of fun with this mani! My husband helped me use two magnets to create the design, based on this video I saw in a Facebook group. We found that if the magnets were attracting, they created the “s” shape; if they were opposing, they created a different shape.
KBShimmer Solar Flare, 3 coats plus top coat [currently sold out!]
Painted Polish Calls For Chocolate, 2 coats plus matte top coat, then QDTC
Fancy Gloss dark grey mystery box prototype, 1 coat and no top coat
So get ready for a lot of freaking pictures because I love this mani, I love the polishes, and if I can figure it out, I’ll even add a video to this post.
Pahlish The Good Dalek, 3 coats plus top coat. Formula was a little thick, but I prefer it that way. I was concerned flakies would stick up but happily, they didn’t!
KBShimmer Let’s Do Launch, 3 coats plus top coat. Formula was a little thick, but I’m okay with that. (See above.)
Sinful Colors Unicorns R Real 2411, 2 coats plus top coat. Formula was a bit thick and it applied unevenly.
Crystal Parade Ultimate Nail Art Gold
Nicole Diary/Born Pretty iridescent trident (triangle?)
Man, I just can’t get enough of magnetic polishes. I think this is my 9th magnetic mani within a week and half? 😀 Fair warning, there’s a ton of pictures today! Oh, I forgot, I took inspiration from this mani by nailsjustnailss.
I’ve been playing around with how I use the magnet with these magnetic polishes. With this mani, I hit the edge of the nail with the magnet, then went in at an angle by the knuckle.
KBShimmer Thrust Issues, 3 coats plus top coat. Formula was a little thick but still workable. I used this tutorial for using the magnet, it worked better on some nails than others. I think I just need to practice the technique.
China Glaze Mega Bite, 3 coats plus top coat. Sheer and thin but pretty!
Crystal Parade Crystal/Pearl Steampunk Mix
I’m obsessing over my magnetic polishes I bought from KBShimmer so I paired it with an old China Glaze that I picked up awhile back from a local beauty supply store. Then I wanted to fancy it up a bit, so dug through my stash for this mix from Crystal Parade. I think it works quite nicely! Click through for more pictures. Don’t forget to check out #vintagepolishfriday at Of Life and Lacquer and on instagram! Continue reading
OPI Turn On the Northern Lights, 2 coats and no top coat. Good formula, a little on the thin side. If I was just wearing this on its own, I would have done 3 coats. It’ll stain your nails!
KBShimmer So Jelly, 1 coat plus top coat. Use a light hand, basically float the polish on. I wish the unicorn pee shifting to green was easier to see on the nail.
KBShimmer Orbits and Pieces, 1 coat plus top coat. I used a light hand with this as well, since I wanted the beauty of So Jelly to shine through.
Okay, so I’ve currently become obsessed with magnetic polishes and I bought the whole KBShimmer Launch Party magnetic collection; I don’t think I’ve bought a whole collection (especially one so large) ever!
Turtle Tootsie Polishes February
Alchemy Lacquers Sweet Violet
Polish ‘M Shamrock [previously seen in my St. Patrick’s Day manicure]
KBShimmer Bling Out Loud
Formula X Mind Over Matter matte top coat
Afternoon everyone! Quick little post while the little ones sleep. 😀 I created this mani last night – I was trying to do something interesting with these four and Sinful Colors Transforming Top Coat in Concrete Jungle but couldn’t make something work. Oh well! I rather thought this turned out like abstract flowers or something. If you’re interested in this technique, I did it similar to this tutorial from Yagala (pedicure warning!).
