Hey yo! I hope your Saturday afternoon is going swimmingly. For today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt of “healthy skin”, I’m showing you what I’ve been using lately that my skin is loving. Warning: my makeup-less face is shown below! (Quelle horreur!)
Mario Badescu is a brand that first came on my radar from another beauty blogger (which one, I can’t remember). My skin is pretty sensitive and dry (Montana winters don’t help!), so any skincare I use has to be gentle, yet actually get my skin clean (many times gentle cleansers won’t get makeup off my face). I had been using the Simple Skin Care line, then I picked up a sample set during Ulta’s Thanksgiving Day sale and I was sold.

I use the Keratone Cream Soap in the morning to get off morning sleepies and get my skin ready for the day. I follow up with the Kera Moisturizer – my skin adores this! It soaks it up and my skin feels moisturized but not greasy. Here is my face before makeup and after cleansing and moisturizing:

It used to be that if I washed in the morning & evening, my face would get so dried out, especially around the mouth area I would develop these dry flakes (not attractive, fyi). But I’ve been using this stuff for a month – twice a day – with no flakes! I really do think it’s the much more gentle cleanser in the morning, followed by a gentle moisturizer.
At night, I wash with the Enzyme Cleansing Gel, following up with the toner. I have never been able to use toner before – my skin just hates it! But it doesn’t mind this toner at all. Lastly, I apply the Seaweed Night Cream, a heavier and greasier cream. In the photo below, I’ve also used their Peptide Renewal Serum (before the night cream), which I’m not sold on yet. I only use it once a week or so, any more often and my face seems to break out. Here is my face after cleansing/applying moisturizer:

BTW, that’s my “I’m so happy it’s bedtime because I am so freaking tired and I forgot I was supposed to take a picture of my face” smile. I asked my husband if he had noticed a difference in my skin and he said that he has noticed my skin is not as red and seems smoother, not as rough.
Though Mario Badescu is a little more expensive than what I’m used to paying for a skincare line, it is totally worth it to me. My skin hasn’t felt or looked this good for years. If you’re interested in finding a Mario Badescu product that’s right for you, check out their website. It seems they have a product for every type of skin and concern!
What do you use that makes your skin feel healthy and good?
