Advent manicure

Good evening everyone! Obviously from the title, I’m sharing an Advent manicure with you tonight. We do observe Advent in my house, so I thought it would be fun to do 4 different Advent manicures (for the four weeks of Advent).

Tonight I’ve used essie after school boy blazer (dark blue/black), Color Club Endless (light pink), Color Club Pucci-licious (purple), Sinful Colors Pullover (yellow) and Snow Me White (umm duh). The fun thing is depending on which week you’re in, you can add another candle light. πŸ™‚

Crumpet’s 33Day Challenge: #9 Indian

Good morning all! πŸ™‚ Today’s challenge is Indian. I really wanted to do an Indian style pattern, so I looked around on the internet and found this one. Let’s see how I did on re-creating it!

I started off with 3 coats of essie turquoise & caicos. I love this color but it’s super thin and hard to control. 😦 I then used a striping brush with SOPI Studs & Stilettos for the “waves”, and a dotting tool with essie the girls are out (pink), and essie tart deco (orangey-coral).

What do you think? I like how rich and sumptuous looking it came out, but my lines could have definitely been better spaced. Be sure to check out the rest of the great manis for today by clicking below:

Tomorrow, I’ll have part two of my review of The Devil Wears Polish, so until then,

P.S. Don’t forget if you’re a nail blogger, I’d love for you to join me in creating a manicure for Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Day on October 15. You can read the details here.

Then & Now: LA Splash Aqua Fusion & essie beyond cozy

Good morning all! I have another re-do post for you today! πŸ™‚ In both manicures, I used LA Splash Aqua Fusion, essie beyond cozy, and essie licorice.

I don’t think my “then” photos are too bad, but I see little things that I think I’ve gotten better at.

Now:

LA Splash Aqua Fusion is still has thick and hard to work with as I remember! essie Beyond Cozy isn’t really a picnic either. I love the effect, but it just gets too thick on the brush and makes it almost impossible to do nail art with. :/

Tomorrow I will have one more then/now post. Have you entered my giveaway yet? Make sure you do! Until tomorrow,

Happy Birthday Nails!

Yes, I know I disappeared over the weekend, but today is my BIRTHDAY! I have special sparkly fingernails and toenails today! First all, I absolutely adore my birthstone – sapphire. My wedding band has a line of sapphires and diamonds, and my engagement ring has a Montana Yogo Sapphire flanked by two diamonds. Although my favorite color is red, sapphire blue is my second favorite color.

First up, my toes. πŸ™‚ I started off with 2 coats of Mentality Sailor:

I then added a coat of Sinful Colors Smokin’ Hot (out of focus to show sparkle):

Lastly, I added two thin coats of I Love Nail Polish Once Upon a Starry Night:

I had so much trouble getting a good shot of the sparkle on this one, but here are a few shots:

For my fingernails, I wanted to evoke the colors of the Montana sky in September. The sky becomes such a rich blue color, and it makes me fall in love with Montana all over again. I decided to do a gradient of 3 blues – essie borrowed & blue (light blue), essie avenue maintain (medium blue), and essie butler please (blue leaning towards purple).

To try to show the brilliance of a Montana sky, I added a thin coat of Sinful Colors Smokin’ Hot. Lastly, I fished out blue hexes from OPI Polka.Com and silver hexes from OPI Crown Me Already to represent my wedding band.

What do you think of my birthday manicure & pedicure? I adore them both, and can’t stop staring at the terrific sparkle. Have a great rest of the day, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Fashion Friday: Angles

Fashion Friday is back! Whoo hooo!! πŸ˜€ I really love doing this series – it pushes me outside my comfort zone, for sure. Today’s design is a shirt from Fendi:

I’ve used 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow as a base, then using LA Splash in Blowfish, I created a yellow stripe on each nail. I then used Finger Paints in Warm He-Art-Ed for a triangular shape on each nail. Lastly I used essie licorice to create another triangle and a stripe down the middle and a stripe at the edge of each nail.

I love that Warm He-Art-Ed has this pink shimmer to it – it’s a gorgeous polish (and one I got on sale for $1.50 I think).

Here’s a comparison to the inspiration:

What do you think? I should have done the yellow stripe the opposite direction, but other than that, I really like it. It is definitely bold!

Don’t forget that You Pick Tuesday is coming up – let me know what nail polish combination you’d like to see on my nails, either in the comments here or on my facebook page. πŸ˜‰ Until tomorrow,

July Tri-Polish Challenge: Ruffle

Good afternoon! This is the last Tri-Polish Challenge for July, and it’s my favorite! I wanted to do a take off of Chalkboard Nails Ruffle Manicure (seen here). Here are the polishes I’ve used:

My ruffle started to go curved on all my nails – I need to watch that next time I do this manicure. I love how depending on which bottle I’m holding, that color pops out even more. What do you think? Don’t forget to check out the other manicures:

Tomorrow I will have challenge nails inspired by a favorite vacation AND four polishes from Mentality Polish. Until then,

July Tri-Polish Challenge: Sunburst

Hello everyone! I’ve got the third July Tri-Polish challenge here for you. A reminder of the polishes used: essie avenue maintain, butler please, and mojito madness. Today’s manicure is what I’m calling a “sunburst”. I tried using tape on my pinky finger (which is why it looks weird), but it didn’t really work so I just freehanded my other nails:

What do you think? I like it, it’s simple but still striking. πŸ™‚ Check out the other TPC manicures:
