Glamour Doll Eyes Insider Look 1: Pass the Bubbly, Fabulous! Remix, Incognito Remix, Cloud Coverage EOTD

Press Sample buttonHi everyone! Just a quick post this afternoon – I applied to be a Glamour Doll Eyes insider and I was accepted last week. Glamour Doll Eyes (GDE) is an indie makeup company that I’ve been supporting and using for years, so I’m thrilled that I was chosen! I get to use 6 eyeshadows (that were sent to me) in 4 different EOTD looks and I have the first look to show you here.

I started off with Pass the Bubbly all over. I then used Fabulous! Remix on the lid. I mixed Incognito Remix with Glamour Doll Eyes Foil Me in my crease and the outer corner. In the inner corner, I used Cloud Coverage for a bit of brightness.

The eyeliner used for my waterline is L’Oreal Infallible eyeliner in black and for the regular lining is CoverGirl Intensify Me eyeliner [press sample, previously swatched]. My mascara is Buxom in black. Lastly, the lippie is a nude by Laura Geller Luscious Lips Liquid Lipstick, Cherry Almond.

Cover Girl Violet Flicker + Seared Bronze nail polish swatches + review

Purchased by Me buttonHi everyone! I think today’s post is a first for me – I don’t think I’ve ever had a Cover Girl nail polish on the blog before. Kind of exciting, I guess? haha! Today I’ll be showing you Violet Flicker and Seared Bronze, two polishes I picked up on clearance awhile back.

Violet Flicker is a warm purple base polish with sparkles of red, light purple, and blue.

Formula on this is really thin, almost watery. Plus it pulled away from the tips of my nails. This is 3 thin coats and no top coat.

Seared Bronze is a gold base with sparkles of red, and bronze.

Formula on this is the same as Violet Flicker: thin and pulled away from my tips. This is 3 thin coats and no top coat.

I should add that both of these polishes left sparkles all over my nails on removal. Such a pain!

So, I kind of feel bad that my first impressions of a Cover Girl nail product were not good. Cover Girl was really my first entry into beauty and makeup when I was a teen, so I was really hoping for a solid entry here. :/

What was your first makeup brand when you were a teen?

Cover Girl Flamed out Mascara & ink it! Eyeliner Review

press sample

Good afternoon lovelies! How is your afternoon going? Our weather is warming up a bit (yay for above zero!), so I’ve been enjoying a bit more sunshine. πŸ™‚ I have for you this afternoon (haha evening) a duo review of Cover Girl’s Flamed Out mascara and ink it! eye pencil.

Flamed Out mascara with the “Volume Igniter brush” is “specially designed to add volume to EVERY lash for bigger, thicker, and fuller lashes to help maximize volume” (according to packaging). Β Let’s look at some pictures, hmmm?

The casing feels very light, and honestly very cheap to me. That may not be a big deal to some people, but when the casing is so light, it throws off the balance of my hand in applying the mascara. The brush covers my lashes well, but I did have to use two coats (as in, apply one coat, for it to dry, then apply a second coat) for full coverage. When I took off my makeup though, I noticed that the mascara had flaked everywhere and it was flaky coming off. Not really a pleasant experience.

If you’re looking for a similar type of mascara brush, my recommendation is Rimmel’s Scandal Eyes mascara. It has a bit heavier of casing, and covers each lash much better.

Next, I have for you the ink it! perfect point plus all-day eye pencil in black ink. This eye pencil has “vibrant, high impact color” that “glides on smoothly with pen-like precision”(according to packaging). It has a self-sharpening pencil, and is crease and fade resistant, and is waterproof. Pics!

I really liked that this stayed put, all day long – no smudging at all. But, it definitely did not glide on smoothly, I had to really press to get it to go on. I’m also not a fan of the self-sharpening pencil part, it’s very easy for the tip to break off, especially combined with having to press harder. Plus, it clicks when you push up the eyeliner. Kind of annoying! πŸ˜›

If you’re looking for a similar self-sharpening eye pencils (without the clicking), my recommendations would be Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips eyeliner trio, Revlon ColorStay eyeliner, or Almay intense i-color.

Here is a pic of each swatched on the back of my hand. The eyeliner is the top two lines, the mascara the bottom line:

Here is the look I created with both of these products:

As you can see, the eyeliner did give a nice fine line, close to the lash line, and the mascara did coat the lashes nicely as well (after 2 coats). Have you tried either of these products yet? I’d love to know your thoughts about them in the comments below! πŸ™‚

Until the next time,
