Good morning everyone. Today is a quick post to remind you that it’s the anniversary of my mom’s death and that on social media today I’ll be posting the random acts of kindness my children and I will be performing in her honor. I’ve talked about my mom before (and memories of Almond Roca) and about the RAOK Day if you care to read through these posts. This is last year’s manicure.
I’m finding it harder and harder as the years go by to remember my mom – well certainly not her in a general sense but in a specific sense – the feel of her face, her voice, her laugh, the way she would hug me and tell me to hold my babies tight. So each year as her anniversary comes up, I try even harder to honor her and the lessons she taught me – as a mom, wife, and human being. Each year on this anniversary, my kids and I go throughout our city performing random acts of kindness as a way to honor her. I’m also finally getting a memorial tattoo this year! If you’re able to join us, please do so – take a pic and share it on ig or Facebook with the hashtag #RAOK4Lucy. Continue reading
Gosh, I gotta tell you, this is one of my absolute favorite fall manicures that I’ve created lately. Let’s just jump right in, okay?
On my pointer and middle fingers, I used 3 coats plus top coat of OPI What’s the Hatter With You? This is a stainer, but dayum is it ever glorious!
On my I used 2 coats plus top coat of Pretty & Polished Creme de la Creme. Formula on this is a little uneven but it could have been my base coat. I actually did do a swatch of this later on:
It really is a lovely palette cleanser of a polish!
Over Creme de la Creme, I used Celestial Cosmetics Dragon Wings, a Hella Holo Customs polish. This is such a pretty shifty polish!
This just screamed fall and cozy to me, perfect for this fall loving gal. What kind of manis do you like to create in the fall?
Hi everyone! Here’s another polish swatch that I’ve had around for ever, Celestial Cosmetics Lady.
Celestial Cosmetics Lady is a pink-y mauve polish with purple, blue, and watermelon flakes. Formula was sheer and thin. This is 3 coats plus top coat.
This isn’t my favorite polish from Celestial – I think I actually traded or sold it. There was just something about it that screamed 80s that I didn’t like. What do you think?
Good morning everyone! I feel like it’s been forever and a day since I’ve blogged. I have an update for you at the end of this post if you feel like knowing what’s been going on BUT FIRST let’s take a look at Celestial Cosmetics Chocolate River.
Chocolate River is a chocolate brown holographic polish, with a slight purple flash to the holo.
This is 3 coats plus top coat. The formula was fairly thin and the polish was more sheer than I thought it was going to be.
What’s been going on in my life? Frankly, this summer was a hot, anxiety-filled mess. Besides being pregnant (which is stressful in and of itself) and feeling like crap 90% of the time, my daughter is going through some mental health issues, my toddler is…well, a toddler and into everything, and even my happy-go-lucky middle child was feeling the stress. Added to this, we will be moving before baby comes to a bigger house and I have no idea on where to even start!
So I needed (need to?) take a step back from blogging. I painted my nails for myself and stopped feeling like I needed to swatch everything and photograph it for the blog. I painted my nails – or not. I just enjoyed having pretty nails for the sake of having pretty nails.
My kids started school last week and I’ve just been taking the time to enjoy the toddler before the baby gets here. It’s been nice to just relax and not feel stressed about having something up on the blog. I’m still trying to take it easy, and though I want to get back to blogging on a regular basis, I need to be realistic. That means blogging when I want to – or not. Showing off pretty polishes and pretty nail art because I’m excited about it – not because I’m feeling like I need to keep my nose to the grindstone and compete with other bloggers. That need to compete has really kept me from feeling like blogging, tbh.
At any rate – will you be seeing me more often than once a month? Yes. I’m not going to promise a M, W, F schedule or even a T, Th schedule. I am going to try to blog at least once a week.
I hope all of you are well and have had a wonderful summer. All the best to you! ❤
Morning everyone! Did you have a wonderful weekend? It was pretty grey and gross here, and unfortunately the whole week is shaping up to be the same. I can’t wait for nice spring weather! At any rate, I have another Pick Three Polish post for you today with Girly Bits Cosmetics Lack of Pies, China Glaze Kiwi Cool-Ada, Celestial Cosmetics LE September 2015 and some nail art! If you didn’t get to see the last Pick Three Polishes post, I have so many polishes sitting untried, that I started to just randomly pick 3 polishes, swatch them, and try to do nail art with them!
Girly Bits Cosmetics Lack of Pies is a multi chrome holographic polish that shifts from sage green to emerald green to blue. (Shown above in light box conditions and in the shade. Shown below in full sun.) Continue reading
Hi everyone! I have a huge post today so let’s jump right in. I had such a hard time narrowing down my favorite indie polishes that I showed on the blog in 2015 but I finally got it down to 20…p.s. *phew!
Hey Hey it’s Tuesday! 😀 (Now I have the Monkees song stuck in my head!) How has your week started out? Today I have a few photos of Celestial Cosmetics Trip to show you. 🙂
Trip is a dusty orange holographic nail polish. You know, I’ve never thought that I was an orange polish person, but I guess I’ve been showing quite a few of them lately! 😛
This is 3 coats plus top coat. I really ended up enjoying how this looks on me, so perhaps I’m changing my mind about orange polish!
Have you changed your mind about how a certain color looks on your nails? Let me know what color it was!
