ReSwatch Wednesday: Above the Curve Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey

Good morning everyone! Apologies for the later post, I decided to treat myself and sleep in a bit. 😉 Today for Re-Swatch Wednesday, I decided to go for Above the Curve Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey. Here’s the last time I reviewed it.

This time I decided to use different “undies” for this polish, since it is a clear base polish with color shifting flecks.

I layered 3 coats of WWTW over butter LONDON Big Smoke. This didn’t really allow the shift to show as much, which was disappointing, but I can’t be the only one who gets tired of layering over black polish, right?

Anyway, I’m not sure this is still a favorite, but it’s definitely unique enough to stay in my collection! I’d love to know what you think.

BTW, I have some news to share with you in case you don’t follow me on instagram. My family is expecting a new face to show up about September or so (we’re still working on nailing down a more accurate due date!). My husband and I had hoped for years to have another baby and thought that it wouldn’t happen, so this is a very welcome and pleasant surprise for us. I might be slowing down a bit on the blog, but I will still be posting at least 3 to 5 days a week for the foreseeable future.

Embrace Your Geekness Nail Art Challenge: Fandoms

2014 favorite button | Be Happy And Buy PolishGood morning everyone! It’s been so hectic around here, I hadn’t had a chance to tell you about the nail art challenge that’s starting today: Embrace Your Geekness. See, July 13 is Embrace Your Geekness Day and I thought, well, why not have a nail art challenge around that? So the first prompt is “fandoms” and I’ve chosen….Doctor Who!

Though I love all the Doctors I’ve met, my first love is Number 9. He’s just so dark, and almost grim, but then he laughs and says “Fantastic” and you’re just off and away with him! Obviously, I had to narrow down what I would do for nail art (yikes, how hard is that with all the Doctor Who stuff?!) and finally settled on my favorite episode (err, episodes since it’s a two-parter): The Empty Child, and the Doctor Dances.

I’ll be honest, when I first watched this episode, it freaked me out. Creepy children, talking dolls, and clowns will scare me, every flipping time (please use this information for good, and not evil, kthnxbai). So the fact that this episode had a creepy child that looked/talked like a doll? Yeah, I’ll just be over here having a nightmare, thanks. LOL. Okay, onto the nail art!

So I’ve done a representation of Number 9 on my pointer finger, a TARDIS (naturally), a gas mask, and a banana (because they’re a good source of potassium 😉 ).

I hope you enjoyed my rendition for fandoms, so let’s take a look at everyone else’s:

Tomorrow’s prompt for this challenge is video games and I’ll still have the OMD2 Nail Art prompt for you later today, so until then…

For the Doctor, I was inspired by this poster. For the banana, I used a still photo from elleandish. For the TARDIS, I did use this post by Polish Art Addict to help me out.

OMD2 Nail Art Challenge: Holographic

Good afternoon! I’m excited to show you my nails for today’s OMD2 Nail Art Challenge prompt of ‘holographic’, so let’s get right to it!

I’ve started off with 2 coats of Above the Curve’s The Silence (reviewed here). I then used a thin coat of OPI DS Sapphire over the top. Then I added decals and studs to complete this look.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I liked this look. It had so much depth and sparkle to it! Be sure to check out what others came up with for today’s prompt by clicking here. Tomorrow I’ll have a tutorial for you, so until then,

May the Fourth Be With You

Hello all! I’m sure that as you know, today is May Fourth, aka Star Wars Day, aka May the Fourth Be With You. 🙂 I thought it would be fun to do a link-up for this day, so after my manicure, you’ll see a blue frog at the end of this post to see more Star Wars themed manicures. 😉

I started off with my galaxy nails from yesterday:

I then did a StormTrooper, Darth Vader, Yoda, and Obi Wan-Kenobi on my nails. It was really hard to narrow down who I wanted to try to re-create, and then to try to paint them on! Let’s take a look:

I used OPI Black Onyx, Alpine Snow, My Vampire is Buff, A-taupe the Space Needle, Green Gargantuan Grape, Mermaids Tears, and Jade is the New Black to create all the characters.

Well, what do you think? I think my Darth Vader has a pompadour going on, and Yoda doesn’t much look like Yoda. But, I tried! Sometimes though, failure happens. LOL.

Click the blue frog to see some more manis!

What do you think of this mani? I’d love to know what you think! Until the next time,

Galaxy Nails

Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a beautiful Saturday so far. 🙂 Our weekend is supposed to be a bit dreary (weather-wise) and I’m not looking forward to being cooped up all day long.

This morning I have a something new for you: galaxy nails! I’d never tried this before, and I wanted to try it out for what will be my mani tomorrow. 🙂 I first started off with 2 coats of Above the Curve The Silence (reviewed here). I then sponged China Glaze Sexy in the City and Reggae to Riches over the top, and topped with one thin coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust and topped with OPI Fast Dry topcoat. Be prepared for a lot of pictures!

Now I know it’s not as complicated as some galaxy nails, but I’m pleased with how my first attempt came out. I’d love to know what you think about it! Tomorrow I will have nail art to show you that I did over this….can you guess what it might have to do with? Until then,

Above the Curve Doctor Who nail polish, part two

purchased myself button2014 favorite button | Be Happy And Buy PolishGood afternoon lovelies! I had a super early start to my morning today, and I hate that. LOL. Are you a morning person or a night owl? I hate when I’m forced to be a morning person, my whole system rebels.

Anyway, onto the beautiful set of six polishes I have for you today from Above the Curve. Yesterday I showed you their Doctor Who collection part one, and today it’s part two. I didn’t find the formula for part two to be as thin as part one, it was just perfect! I’ve swatched all polishes with OPI base & top coats. Click after the collage for a whole passel of pictures (no seriously, there’s a lot!).
