Good morning you awesome readers! 🙂 Today I have a fun twin post for you! I was talking with Michelle from ManicTalons the other day and we were commiserating over our crooked middle fingers (seriously, it’s hard to show off polish when your middle finger and pinky finger wants to go different directions). We decided to do a twin post together! The fun thing about this twin post is that Michelle works primarily with gel polish, and I work with traditional polish. Let’s get to the design!
I had never done a quilted design, and Michelle wanted to try doing a quilted design with gel, so that’s what we’ve done: quilted with flowers. 🙂 I’ve used China Glaze Thistle Do Nicely (pink) and China Glaze Four Leaf Clover (green) with Jessica Nail Polish Sharktooth.
My camera couldn’t begin to pick up how dang bright Thistle Do Nicely is, just trust me that it was insanely bright.
I have to admit that I really love this design! The quilted technique is still something I need to practice at, I had first tried indenting the polish with floss but that failed spectacularly. LOL. I actually did one thick coat of TDN, then let it dry and used striping tape before doing another thick coat of TDN to create a quilted look. Let’s take a peek at Michelle & I’s nails together:
Make sure you hop on over to ManicTalons and see what polishes Michelle used! I really love how her flowers came out (much more cohesive than mine!).
I also decided that this would qualify as something new for Finger Food’s Theme Buffet as well. 🙂 Check out the rest of those at the blue frog:
Phew! I hope you like this twin post! I’d love to know what you think in the comments. 🙂 Until tomorrow,
Good morning everyone! How is your weekend going? I hate to say it, but I’m not having such a great weekend. I do have anxiety, and this week has not been entirely pleasant for me in that regard. But doing my nails has always been an anxiety-reliever for me, so sitting down to do these challenge nails was really lovely last night.
Well, you didn’t come here for my health-related issues, so let’s get on to the nails today. I admit to having a bit of trouble with this, I thought monochromatic just meant black and white. But it turns out that it means the same color, just different shades of it.
I’ve decided to use two new Milani nail polishes that were part of my Cherry Culture order: Milani Creamy Pistachio and Milani Showy Sea-Green. I’ve started out with two coats of Creamy Pistachio:
I then applied striping tape (small stripes) and striping decals from Nail Vinyls (big stripes), then applied Showy Sea-Green. Lastly I topped it off with Glisten & Glow’s HK Girl topcoat.
I have to say, I’m really digging this look, as it totally fits my mood lately. I also really loved how both Creamy Pistachio and Showy Sea-Green applied! Let’s check out the other monochromatic nails this week:
I hope you’ve enjoyed this nails, and I hope that I didn’t scare you off with a bit of personal talk. Until the next time,
Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a relaxing Sunday. 🙂 I’m impatiently waiting for Montana to get the hint that it’s springtime and show me a little sunshine. 😉
To get me in the spring mood, I have some spring stripes today. I’ve started off with 2 coats of ellagee Milk Glass. This was the perfect starting point, because I wanted an opaque white polish as a base. Then after applying striping tape, I used Jessica Sharktooth on top.
Then, I added another stripe going across the other stripes with Jessica Monsoon Melon, topping it all with Glisten & Glow’s HK Girl.
Though the striping tape was against me the day that I did this manicure (on both hands too!), I really enjoyed the end result! Let’s see what everyone else came up with for this week’s theme:
I’d love to know what you think, so please be sure to comment! 🙂 Until the next time,
Good afternoon everyone! I hope your Sunday is going fine. For once, I’m not hating the Daylight Savings Time, though I bet tonight is going to stink! How are you holding up with it?
This week’s theme buffet for FingerFood’s link up is dots & stripes. I decided to do a fairly simple, but bright, take on this. I’ve used 3 coats of Jessica Sharktooth as a base, then used Jessica Dynamite Teal and Jessica Ocean Bloom for the dots and stripes, topped off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl.
What do you think about this fun manicure? It was actually so much brighter in person, it was pretty fun to look at. 🙂 I can’t wait to see all of the fun manicures from everyone else, I bet you can’t either, so let’s click the blue frog below for more:

Good morning everyone! I hope you are looking forward to a fantastic Sunday. It’s currently abso-freakin-lutely cold (-18!) and I actually have to leave the house. Boo, hiss!
If you’ve noticed, I haven’t done the past few weeks of FingerFood’s Theme Buffet – just too much else going on to sit down and do much nail art. If you haven’t read much about this, it’s a chilled, one mani a week challenge, thought up by Sam at FingerFood Nails. This week’s theme is flowers.
I’ve started off with 3 coats of Orly Unlawful, a bright red. I then used Orly Frolic (purple), Prelude to a Kiss (light peachy pink), Red Flare (darker red), and Gumdrop (blue) for the flowers. I added studs or a piece of loose glitter in the center of each flower. Lastly, I’ve topped with Glisten & Glow’s HK Girl top coat.
You can join the challenge as well – just click through to the Facebook group. What do you think of these flowery nails? I tell you what, I really needed them since it’s so cold and I’m longing for spring! 🙂 Let’s see a veritable garden of flowers by clicking the blue frog:
Have a great Sunday, until later –
Good afternoon everyone! I recently picked up OPI Over And Over A-Gwen from Of Life and Lacquer’s blog sale and I have that to share with you today.
Surprisingly enough, I don’t have a blue-toned red creme like this in my OPI collection. This is 2 coats, with no top coat!
I decided to make my nails into tuxes for FingerFood’s Theme Buffet #5. After all, what’s a celebration without getting dressed up? I added a stripe of OPI 4 In the Morning using nailvinyls.com stripes.
Lastly, using the chevrons from nailvinyls.com and the stripes, I created triangles for bowties, then placed a crystal from the Over and Over A-Gwen set in the middle.
What do you think about my fancily dressed nails? I’m pretty happy with how they came out – save for my pinky. I didn’t realize how fast the OPI nail glue would come out!
Let’s check out the rest of the birthday/celebration manis by clicking the blue frog below:
I hope you’re having an amazing week – until the next time we talk,
Good evening everyone! I don’t normally do evening posts, but laundry desperately needed to be done, so posting was put on the back burner. 🙂
I finally figured out something for this week’s theme of Sparkle! For my base, I’ve used Revlon Bare Bones (1 thin coat, 1 thick coat). Holy thin formula Batman! I think I will still like this for undies for other manicures, though.
Then I used Nail Vinyl’s chevrons, which I cut in half then placed at a slant on my nails, then used Shimmer Lorene over the top of that. Lorene was sent to me with another polish for my all-indie Radiant Orchid post. It is an absolutely gorgeous pink/red base polish with so many multi-colored glitters that you don’t think are going to work, but then it’s on your nail and you sigh because it’s perfection. 🙂
First, here it is with Nail Pattern Boldness’ Glitter Food on top:
And now with Color Club 0-60 fast dry top coat:
A friend’s husband remarked that it looks a little like a robot person. haha! I don’t know what they are, but I like them! Let’s take a peek at the rest of the sparkly manis by clicking the blue frog below:
You can purchase Lorene at Shimmer’s etsy shop for $12. I’d love to know what you think of my mani! Until tomorrow,
