Sally Hansen Insta Dri Matte 18 Gold Rush, 2 coatsI’m currently trying to find the two here that I don’t have – numbers 13 and 14. I think number 13 is a navy blue, which I would love to have. Not sure on what 14 looks like…give me a holler if you know! All of these, except for Molten Mauve, I found to be thin and runny. I’m showing all of these in their natural matte state, and with one coat of shiny top coat. Continue reading

Sally Hansen No More Stains Spray-On Base Coat and Hard As Nails Vitamin Strength Serum review

Press Sample buttonProducts used:
Sally Hansen No More Stains Spray-On Base Coat, .375 fl oz
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Vitamin Strength Serum, .45 fl oz

Long time coming with this review, but I do like, especially with base coats, top coats, and any nail treatments, to do a thorough review.

This is a spray-on base coat (as evidenced by the name). I do like the convenience of this, you could basically do this in your car or anywhere that you wouldn’t normally put on base coat. It has less smell than regular base coat polish, but there is a faint rubbing alcohol smell. It does dry fairly quickly and with a bit of stickiness (which I don’t mind normally). With my body chemistry, it did work well as a base coat. The only draw back I see is that it is fairly small, and priced about $9 (without tax). If I were going on a trip, I would pack this for sure.

This is an interesting nail treatment. I already have and use Hard As Nails Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil (.45 fl oz), which I like and use often. The pump on this seems to be a little strange, you have to press hard to get serum out but then too much comes out. I hope I just got a defective pump. The product itself comes out like hand sanitizer and rubs in quite similarly. It soaks in fairly well, and doesn’t dry too sticky. Again, I think the small size is better suited for trips or in the car or in a purse or bag. It’s priced anywhere from $5-6.

I have used both of these products since receiving them, and I like them both. I am unsure that at $9, I would repurchase the spray on base coat though.

Persons of Color/Women of Color swatch project

Earlier this week, I mentioned a project I’ve been working on and I’m excited to finally reveal it to you!

I have quite a few nail polishes that are press samples just sitting around and I’ve been ruminating on what to do with them – I mean sometimes they aren’t to my taste or what not. At the same time, I have been doing a lot of listening and reading from WOC/POC (Women of Color/Persons of Color) bloggers and the uphill battle many of them face. And I kept coming back to, what can I do – other than being aware?

I gave it some thought, and I could do something to promote POC bloggers and promote more diversity in nail polish swatches. I offered to send what I’ve been sent, or what I’ve bought, to POC/WOC micro bloggers. Now, let’s be clear, I don’t get sent a lot of press samples, and a lot of what I have in polishes, I buy myself. But if something is just going to sit around and not get used, why not spread the wealth (as it were), and promote POC bloggers at the same time? (Wow, I just used the word promote a lot there, I need a thesaurus or something. 😛 )

I sent out packages to 4 micro bloggers this time around:
Jackie at https://www.instagram.com/jackiebodick/

Stefani at https://www.instagram.com/stefanisworld/

Mora at https://www.instagram.com/sassynaildesigns

Melissa at https://www.instagram.com/polishandpups/

You’ll be seeing their swatches over the next few weeks, but I think you should go give them a follow now! All of them have been great to work with, they have wonderful nails and photos and should have more followers and fans.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes in Out of this Pearl, Mauve-oulous, Apollo You Anywhere, Can’t Beat Royalty, Wine Stock, Beet Pray Love

As I said a couple of days ago, it’s Sally Hansen week! I don’t think these nail polishes are new, but the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat is. Let’s check out the polishes with the new Matte Top Coat! Note on formula: all of these were fairly thin and I really had to be careful that it wouldn’t flood all over the place. But the matte top coat was easy to apply and didn’t cause me any trouble.

Oh my goodness! I picked up 6 more of the Sally Hansen Mega Strength polishes yesterday (have you seen my review yet of the others?) and they are flipping gorgeous. I can’t wait to show you. But for now, let’s check out how my wear test on Persis-tint did! First a reminder of how Persis-tint looked the first day:

A few notes on application: I did have quite a few bubbles showing in my manicure, so that’s something to be aware of. Also, the top coat is NOT a quick dry top coat and as such, it took forever to dry!! But once it dried, it was like iron.

Sally Hansen Mega Strength Persis-tint 5 day wear test manicure | Be Happy And Buy Polish

This is how my manicure looked after 5 days, which included working out, showering, washing dishes, changing diapers, shoveling snow, and all sorts of other activities. As you can see, I had a couple of chips, some tip wear, and one nail was trying to start peeling off – but overall, really held up well! Especially since I’ve been having a hard time with nail polish lately.

Hey everyone! I just got back home from a super relaxing and super needed staycation weekend. I realized it has been 3 years, 11 months [not that I counted or anything] since I’ve gone anywhere without at least 1 kid attached to me and that’s just too long! I know you’re here for swatches of the newest Sally Hansen Mega Strength polishes though, so we will chit-chat at another time. 😀

Sally Hansen Mega Strength nail polish brush | Be Happy And Buy Polish

First though, I want to talk about this brush. I love brushes like this because they are literally perfect for my nail: covers my whole nail in three strokes, and doesn’t get fussy at the edges. I’m in love *sigh* ❤ Continue reading
