Hey everyone! I have several makeup/swatch posts that I’ll be sharing with you over the next week (two weeks?), starting with an eyeshadow palette from Hot Topic I picked up about a month ago, the Handbook for the Recently Deceased, which is a reference from the movie Beetlejuice. If you’ve never watched Beetlejuice, you should do yourself a favor and watch it before Halloween (or really, anytime of the year!). I need to rewatch it soon, I haven’t seen it in much too long.
First I’ll show you a look at the packaging, then the shadows and swatches, and finally the three different eye looks I created with this palette. Let’s get started!
Front and back
Inside left and inside right
The packaging seems sturdy and well-made. Some of the palettes at Hot Topic have very narrow openings and it’s hard to get product out, but this one bucks that trend.
Afterlife, Juno, Dante’s Inferno, Lydia, Betelgeuse, Miss Argentina
These 6 all seem fairly soft but not patchy.
Shrunken Head, Bio-Exorcist, Darkroom, It’s Showtime, Sandworm, Strange + Unusual
Shrunken Head also seems fairly soft. Darkroom and Strange + Unusual both seem patchy.
Eyeshadow look with Lydia, Dante’s Inferno, and Juno
Eyeshadow look with Bio-Exorcist, Betelgeuse, and Afterlife
Eyeshadow look with Darkroom, It’s Showtime, Sandworm, Strange + Unusual (pssst…peep the Sandworm earrings I purchased at Hot Topic!)
Overall, I’m really pleased with this purchase. I’ve already gotten quite a lot of mileage out of it. My favorite shade is definitely Sandworm, but Bio-Exorcist is also so dang pretty. I’d love to know what your favorite shade and your favorite makeup look is!
