Hi everyone! I’m back again with another nail art look for OPI Mad Love’s color of the week, which is yellow and/or gold. Now, yellow isn’t really my favorite nail polish color – I looked in my melmers and I had 4 gold OPI polishes and 2 yellow OPI polishes. Not exactly swimming in this color family, if you feel me. 😛 Also, my ring finger on BOTH hands got split all the way down so I am rocking the total nub life on those fingers. Why yes, I am irritated about that! Anyway, check out my nail art below and afterwards I’ll give you a mid-week check in! (oh P.S. Go check out this nail art guest post I created for Dina at Secretary’s Nail Art!)
Left to right: I Just Can’t Cope-acabana, Can’t Find My Czechbook, SPF XXX, Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around
So I started off with OPI Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around on every finger except my pointer. On my pointer finger, I used 2 coats plus top coat of OPI SPF XXX, and added a bright blue stud.
On my middle and ring fingers, I used OPI I Just Can’t Cope-acabana with the dry brush technique. This is where you wipe most of the polish off the brush before using said polish on your nails.
Lastly, on my thumb and pinky, I used wavy nail vinyls and painted Can’t Find My Czechbook over them.
If it seems like I was trying to incorporate the least amount of yellow as possible but still fit the color of the week challenge, that’s because that’s exactly what I was doing. 😛 Actually, this really gets me in the mood for summer, which is apropos because yesterday it was like..10 degrees for a high and today it’s supposed to be almost 50. Ahhh, Montana weather, you so crazy!
Anyway – life update! The baby, Henry, is growing so well but he has a cough and for some reason his eye goopiness isn’t clearing up. The doctor said it could take a few months though, so I’m not too worried yet. The toddler is getting used to this new person around but he has also hit this whiny stage when he doesn’t get his way – or even when he does. Toddlers are weird, man. My eldest two kids are doing well – I realize I don’t talk about them much but I guess that’s because I try to protect their privacy.
I’m doing okay too – even though I had a fairly easy & fast labor, recovery is still taking me longer than I’d like it to. This is frustrating for this mama! 😛 I just want to get up & get things done (especially the stuff my husband magically doesn’t see <_< ) but I’m trying to pace myself. haha! Easier said than done. Some days when I don’t get enough sleep (or can’t lay down and nap when the babies do), I get easily overwhelmed with emotions and have a break down. That’s hard too. God bless my husband, though – he has been such an amazing support and my steady rock when I feel like I’m losing my mind in postpartum fog.
Oh! My gramma turned 99 last week so Sunday we had a to-do at her church. Seriously – that woman is amazing. She had hip surgery last summer, with no complications; then completed her recovery with flying colors. Oh, and she still lives in her own home (with her son, my uncle) and bakes, sews, and does needlepoint. :O Anyway, my kids like to go visit her frequently but it was still nice to catch up with other family members at this function on Sunday. Rando people coming up to me asking to hold my newborn? Yeah….that was not so cool. LOL
That’s it for now – hope to check in again next week. Don’t forget that right now most of my posts have been scheduled way ahead of time since I really don’t have the time/energy to sit down and post. I do hope to swatch some of those Sinful Colors nail polishes that I showed you on Tuesday though!
I love dry brush manicures and yours is great. I like all the bright colors in it.
