Happy Sunday morning to you readers! If you follow me on snapchat (bhappybuypolish) or instagram stories (behappybuypolish), you’ll have seen that I picked up quite a few new (and new-to-me) Wet N Wild products, including: MegaCushion Highlight Who’s That Pearl, MegaCushion Contour Cafe Au Slay!, MegaCushion soft matte lip cream Melon It Like It Is, Lash Renegade mascara, MegaSlim Skinny Tip Eyeliner, plus the Au Naturel eyeshadow palette in Bare Necessities. Phew! Let’s take a look at these products before I show you the makeup look I created with them.
MegaCushion Highlight in Who’s That Pearl
On the right, you’ll see the applicator that comes with this – basically I think it’s worthless. LOL. I used my fingers to apply this to my face.
On the left is the actual product in a sponge. When I dip my fingers in it, they come away quite damp, so be careful in applying this.
MegaCushion Contour in Cafe Au Slay!
Again, on the right is the applicator that comes with the product. I used my fingers to apply this contour.
On the left is the product in the sponge. Again, when I push on it with my fingers, they come away with quite a bit of product, so have a light touch in application.
I will be interested to see if these products dry out, as it doesn’t seem like when I closed them, they don’t close all the way. I can see how it could be easy to not get them closed tight and have product drying out. Which at $6 (or was it $5), would kind of tick me off. I mean, I’m not a cheapskate but I also don’t like wasting products.
MegaCushion soft matte lip cream in Melon It Like It Is
This has a soft cushiony tip which has a small hole in it to dispense the product. It does apply evenly but I’ve noticed since buying it that the hole gets dried up product in it so the next time you go to use it, you have to squeeze hard to get any out – then you get too much!
It’s so hard to tell from the outside of the tube how bright this lip cream is, but I’m glad I didn’t know because I never would have picked this up! But I absolutely love the way it brightened up my face.
I did find that I still had a bit of stain to my lips after two meals and the end of the day. Yes, you want to be sure to re-apply, but I wasn’t expecting stained lips so that was a nice surprise.
Swatches of the above three MegaCushion products
I was kind of concerned that the contour would be too dark on my fair skin, but I was able to blend it out successfully.
I used the highlight and contour in my regular spots: forehead, over the eyebrows, cheekbones, hollow of cheeks, nose, above the lip. (The blush I’ve used is another Wet N Wild product that I’ve had for…forever.)
Lash Renegade mascara
This has a weird applicator that I’m still not sure about. Plus the whole packaging is like crazy big! I’ll be honest, I didn’t really like how it applied; it kind of made my lashes stiff and stick straight out (yes, I curl my lashes).
MegaSlim Skinny Tip eyeliner
I’m always on the lookout for new eyeliner (who isn’t) that performs strong throughout the day but isn’t gonna cost me an arm & a leg. Everyone, I might have found a new love here! This applied so nicely, I was able to go back over spots that weren’t quite filled in without creating more bare spots (I hate when that happens!).
It does dry quite quickly so if you make a mistake then you’re going to have to wet a pointed q-tip to fix it. I did notice that when I washed my face, this did flake off BUT it lasted all day long with no problems!
Au Naturel eyeshadow palette in Bare Necessities
I didn’t get arm swatches of the shadows I used, I’m so sorry (insert something about I’m getting ready to have a baby any day and I’m easily distracted 😛 ).
I used the cream shadow all the way to the left on my brow bone, the middle semi-dark shimmery pink on my lid, and the shadow two spots to the right of that in my crease.
I will say that I’m disappointed in how the shadows performed. I’ve used Wet N Wild shadows before and always been happy with them but at the end of the day, the shadows were sliding off my face, it seemed. (Yes, I wore my usual primer that performs well; no I wasn’t exercising and sweating up the joint.)
Here’s my completed look! What do you think?
Purchase again:
Skinny Tip Eyeliner
MegaCushion Highlight
MegaCushion Contour
MegaCushion soft matte lip cream
Would not purchase again:
Au Naturel eyeshadow palette
Lash Renegade mascara
I know that some stores have more new product than what my Walgreens had, I’m still hopeful to pick up and try out more new stuff.
If you like this (long) post, and found it helpful – please do me a favor and share it using one of the social media buttons below this post. 🙂
Nice look you achieved!
That mascara packaging is just so clunky and bulky. That creates a storage issue. For that reason alone, I would not even try that product. Great reviews!
Thanks so much! I’m currently not able to figure out where to stick this mascara. Haha!
I’ve been using gel liner the past year or so but a good, inexpensive and skinny liquid liner is something I like to have for backup and I haven’t found one yet. Sometimes I just don’t feel like messing with the pot & brush.
I totally hear you! This liner is a good option for grabbing one in a store. Otherwise I also like Jesse’s Girl liquid liner in black.
Those mega cushion products look like they might be more of a pain than they’re worth. I really like the eyeshadow palette, though!
