Good morning to you, good morning to you! I hope you had a wonderful weekend – I gotta admit I’m glad to see the back of mine. It was the last weekend my husband had to work all weekend long (at least for awhile), so yay! Speaking of yay, I have a set of 6 wonderful creme polishes from Bad Bitch Polish to show you today, entitled the Southern Hemisphere collection. As the maker says – we may be headed into fall & winter but our southern hemisphere friends are moving into spring.
First up is Nautica Rose, a light rosewood pink cream. It really is a lovely ladylike neutral. Formula was smooth! This is 2 coats and no top coat.
Next is Madagascar Sunset, a light creamy orange. It reminds me of orange creamsicles! It is more pink-toned than my camera wanted to capture, unfortunately. Formula was smooth, just a bit of trouble self-leveling. This is 2 coats and no top coat.
Next is The Veldt, a pale green. Formula was again smooth, I did experience slight pooling at the base of my nail. This is 2 coats and no top coat.
Blue Steel is up next, a pale blue. Another winner in formula, and nice self-leveling. This is 2 coats and no top coat.
Cotinga is based on a South American bird. Formula was again smooth with nice self-leveling. I did not experience staining in the minimal amount of time I had it on, but I think it would stain the skin around your nails. This is 2 coats and no top coat.
Last is You’re a Star(ling), a grayed lavender. Formula was smooth and beautiful, but not as self-leveling as Cotinga or Blue Steel. This is 2 coats and no top coat. (I’ve already used this again in nail art!)
I just was itching to combine these into some nail art, so I tried out a technique I saw from Chalkboard Nails where you take makeup sponges and pockmark the surface before applying nail polish to it (then to your nails). I started off with You’re a Star(ling), then sponged the other colors on top. Lastly I sponged a bit of a The Don Deeva custom polish on top.
What do you think of this gorgeous collection? Seriously these cremes reminded me of the “good ole days” when OPI put out truly wonderful creamy formulas (sadly those days are gone, it seems!). My favorites are probably You’re a Star(ling) and Nautica Rose. This collection launches October 21 at Bad Bitch Polish, $9.50 per polish or $54 for the whole set. Minis will be available for $4.50 each or $25 for the whole set. (Reminder that I actually do love Bad Bitch Polish mini bottles!)
