Good morning everyone! I’m typing super fast because my little one-year old (!!!) is currently napping and I’m trying to get this done before he wakes up. 😉 Today I have two polishes from Joy Lacquer‘s Kinder Queen collection, launching September 9: Crush on the Blue-Eyed Boy and I Heart My Teacher. I also have an earlier version of CotBEB that Joy sent me, which she named Yogo in the Rough. More on that later!
Crush on the Blue-Eyed Boy is described as “a beautiful royal-blue violet with a sparkling jewel-like shimmer, [with] abundant purple and blue micro-flecks throughout the polish and dash of scattered holo dust that gives it an extra twinkle. The one thing you remember most about your first crush is the color of his eyes and this polish was made to match a dreamy shade of blue.” Formula on this was good, sheer but build-able. It had a good thickness, and dries matte. This is 3 coats plus top coat.
I Heart My Teacher is described as “a linear holographic pink that’s fun and bright, [with] subtle gold and lavender flashes that catch in the light. Being a teacher takes patience, commitment and a huge heart and this is my tribute to the incredible people that make up the fiber of the education system. Teachers, we heart you!” Formula was great, spreads easily but no pooling; it dries matte. This is 3 thin coats plus top coat. Not usually a pink fan, but the gold sparkle in this polish totally makes it worth it.
Yogo in the Rough is an early prototype for Crush on The Blue-Eyed Boy. After I posted in a nail group looking for Yogo sapphire colored polishes, Joy sent me a message letting me know she might just have the ticket.
YitR is a medium blue that seems to have a slight purple shift to it at the edges, with purple and maybe green microspecks and scattered holo microspecks. On the nail, it seems to have a glowing from within look, which I adore! Formula was seriously just the way I love a formula, not too thick or thin, and spreads easily. This is 3 coats plus top coat, though you could get away with 2 thicker coats.
Here is a comparison between CoTBEB and YitR.
I’m really pleased with my first experience with Joy Lacquer. It’s always hard to try out new brands as you never know what you’re getting into, but the formulas alone on the three I tried have sold me. As I said, the Kinder Queen collection launches September 9 at midnight EST at Joy Lacquer. The full collection is 7 polishes and are $10.50 for each full size (13 ml.) individually. For full collection discount, enter the code KinderQueen at check out. It will take $1 off each bottle, bringing the price to $66.50 for the full collection. Mini collection (7 ml bottles) will be available in limited quantity at 7 bottles for $36.
Lovely swatches of each polish!
They are all so pretty! I’ve never heard of Joy Lacquer before.
Oh, I’m glad you found something similar to your Yogo sapphire!
