essie On a Silver Platter swatches + review

Press Sample buttonGood morning, everyone! I hope you are looking forward to a great day, I know I am. πŸ™‚ Today I have a polish from essie called On a Silver Platter. This came out quite awhile ago, but I was offered a chance to review it through the Amazon Vine Program.

I’ve taken two bottle shots to show you the difference that lighting can make. Both photos were taken in my lightbox, but with just a slight movement, one is more blue/silver-toned and one is more blue/gold-toned.

The way this polish went on the nail was so strange. It was lumpy because of the blue glitters, but super sheer because of the gold/silver base. Plus the blue glitters had a tendency to stick to one another and not apply evenly.

I kept adding coats (shown is 3 coats plus top coat), but to be honest, I think I could have done one more coat because I noticed it pulling away from my tips.

If I used this polish again, I would definitely layer this over another color.

All in all, this isn’t my favorite polish from essie. I’m not quite sure what they were thinking, to be honest! Question: did you ever purchase this polish? Did you have a better experience than I did? Let me know!

  1. I’ve always wanted to like this polish because it seems like it should work, but something about it just doesn’t work for me. I had a very similar experience with Finger Paints Violaceous Vase. In the bottle, it looked so lovely but the sheerness of the base combined with the way it muddled the glitters just wasn’t my bag. I agree…If I ever wore that polish (or any polish like this) again I would layer over a base. That being said…you are almost tempting me with that macro shot! πŸ˜‰

  3. I’m not a big fan of this collection – I don’t own any, but they never really called to me. I wonder how they’d look layered over another polish? Great review!
