Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple swatches + review

Purchased by Me buttonGood wonderful January morning to you! The birds are (not) singing, but my house is quiet because the children are back in school…woohoo! Don’t get me wrong, I love my children, but we were all getting tired of each other at the end of last week, especially since the weather has been so cold and not conducive to outside play. Anyway, this morning I have Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple to show you.

*Programming Note* I had quite a few polishes I wasn’t able to show you in 2015, so I’ll be trying to get those posted over the next couple of weeks.

I’ll be honest, when I first started investigating indies, I heard so much about this polish, but I resisted the urge to purchase it for the longest time. Read on to find out what I think of it, now that I have it. Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple | Be Happy And Buy Polish Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple is described as “a dark plum base with predominantly gold to green colorshifting GLITTER (not shimmer or pigment) in it, along with a mix of other glitters that sparkle green, gold, or an assortment of rainbow colors.” You can see the shift just barely in the bottle shot above. I had no issues with the formula, it went on easily and smoothly. This is 3 coats with top coat, and you can still see some VNL. Let’s check out a closeup: Indigo Bananas 2% Butterscotch Ripple | Be Happy And Buy Polish

All in all, it’s not my favorite polish. It is a lovely polish, to be sure, and I like the color shifting glitters. Maybe it’s because it was so talked up in the nail polish community that I just feel let down? I’m not sure. But, I’d love to know what you think of it! Do you have this polish? Would this be something you’re interested in?

  1. I agree with you. If even at 3 coats the polish is pretty sheer then I won’t wear it unless I use an undie. I know a lot of jelly formulas are sheer, they are meant to be but there are some out there that are just too sheer for my liking. Bummer you were disappointed over such a hyped up polish. I myself haven’t tried IB yet

  2. Yes, I agree with you it’s a little bit of a let down. I personally just don’t see the hype. But I will say, the shade looks really good on you. And as always, love your honest reviews ❤

  3. I really love this polish but unfortunately I couldn’t capture it’s beauty in person. IMO it is one that is much more beautiful in person. And I layered it over a similar color as well, works better that way I think.

  4. Its a pretty polish but I’m not wowed by it. I’m not a fan of having to layer polish more then 3 times to get full coverage, so I would probably layer it over something. On a side note your nails are looking really long! Congrats on that, all of mine have broke because of the cold weather we have. It dropped to -14 just in time for the kids to go back to school.

  5. I really love this one and I think it looks fab on you! I will say, I really LOVED it when I layered it (I used 2 coats over Zoya Blaze). I really felt like that made the shifty glitters pop more.

  6. This isn’t my favorite Indigo Bananas, but maybe (like everyone is saying) if you layer it over a similar color base? I love IB – my favorites usually involve flakies or holo or some combination thereof! Don’t give up on the brand – it really is amazing 🙂

  7. You’ll probably think I’m crazy but I just want polishes from this brand because of the name. Let me explain. Peanut is like a little monkey and he loooooves bananas. Whenever I want to make him giggle, I start repeating over and over “we need more bananas” and he gets all crazy. The name of this brand reminds me of his giggles. I’m such a sappy auntie. lol I really do like the finish on this polish even if it is sheer.

  8. This is a really pretty polish but it’s not something that I would reach for. Most of the time, I’m wearing bright, glitter bombs so this is a little eh for me. I do really like how it looks in the bottle though! Maybe layering it like suggested above will bring back some of the awesomeness!
