Healthy Skin with Mario Badescu #JanuaryBeauty

Purchased by Me buttonHey yo! I hope your Saturday afternoon is going swimmingly. For today’s #JanuaryBeauty prompt of “healthy skin”, I’m showing you what I’ve been using lately that my skin is loving. Warning: my makeup-less face is shown below! (Quelle horreur!)

Mario Badescu is a brand that first came on my radar from another beauty blogger (which one, I can’t remember). My skin is pretty sensitive and dry (Montana winters don’t help!), so any skincare I use has to be gentle, yet actually get my skin clean (many times gentle cleansers won’t get makeup off my face). I had been using the Simple Skin Care line, then I picked up a sample set during Ulta’s Thanksgiving Day sale and I was sold.

I use the Keratone Cream Soap in the morning to get off morning sleepies and get my skin ready for the day. I follow up with the Kera Moisturizer – my skin adores this! It soaks it up and my skin feels moisturized but not greasy. Here is my face before makeup and after cleansing and moisturizing:

It used to be that if I washed in the morning & evening, my face would get so dried out, especially around the mouth area I would develop these dry flakes (not attractive, fyi). But I’ve been using this stuff for a month – twice a day – with no flakes! I really do think it’s the much more gentle cleanser in the morning, followed by a gentle moisturizer.

At night, I wash with the Enzyme Cleansing Gel, following up with the toner. I have never been able to use toner before – my skin just hates it! But it doesn’t mind this toner at all. Lastly, I apply the Seaweed Night Cream, a heavier and greasier cream. In the photo below, I’ve also used their Peptide Renewal Serum (before the night cream), which I’m not sold on yet. I only use it once a week or so, any more often and my face seems to break out. Here is my face after cleansing/applying moisturizer:

BTW, that’s my “I’m so happy it’s bedtime because I am so freaking tired and I forgot I was supposed to take a picture of my face” smile. I asked my husband if he had noticed a difference in my skin and he said that he has noticed my skin is not as red and seems smoother, not as rough.

Though Mario Badescu is a little more expensive than what I’m used to paying for a skincare line, it is totally worth it to me. My skin hasn’t felt or looked this good for years. If you’re interested in finding a Mario Badescu product that’s right for you, check out their website. It seems they have a product for every type of skin and concern!

What do you use that makes your skin feel healthy and good?

  1. Great to hear you’ve been liking those skin care products from Mario Badescu. Never tried them before but I’ve heard such things about the brand. Your skin looks so nice too!

  2. I love the Mario Badescu drying lotion! It’s one of those lines that seems to have great products for all skin types! Your skin literally looks happy in the last photo!

  3. I love the Mario Badescu line! For work I took a class from them about all their products. It has an old world type of feel, like an apothecary, because you can mix and match from the different lines to help with you own specific skin type! I love the Aloe Vera Toner, the Rose Hips Nourishing Oil, Moisture Magnet (be aware, this product does have peanut oil and he doesn’t state that on the front, only in the ingredients), and Almond Honey Face Scrub (gentle enough for my dry/sensitive skin!). Oh and their Glycolic Foaming Cleanser (used 1-2 times a week) is fabulous with a Clairasonic!

    • I love that it is so customizable. That would have been pretty cool to take that class! I have heard great things about the Almond Honey Face Scrub as well, I’ll have to check that out. 🙂

    • haha! Thank you! I can’t take the credit for the dimples, that’s all my momma’s doing. 😛 Thank you for complimenting my skin, it has taken some time to get it looking healthy again.

BTW, Ulta is having MB on sale this month, be sure to check out their flyer!
