Good morning, fan-freakin-tastic readers! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was crazy but that’s the way it is lately. Today I have four polishes to show you from a fairly new indie brand: Quaint Paints Lacquer. Before I get into the full collection & review, I just have to say that I love the thought and detail that the maker has put into the labels – they totally set the tone for each polish.
The Atomic Refreshment collection is based on the video games Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. I’ll let the maker explain the inspiration in her own words:
This collection was inspired by the bottled soft drinks found scattered throughout the desolate Wastelands…Never heard of the games? In a nutshell: the year is 2277 (2281 in New Vegas), 200 years after the world had been nuked by atomic warfare. Humanity persists, though day-to-day life is threatened by mutated monsters and humans alike. Throughout your travels, you’ll often find pre-War, irradiated bottles of soda that are not only refreshing, but their caps are used as currency in this new world.
Click through after the collage to see a whole passel of pretty pictures!
Sun of a Sassafras is a glitter topper that has a slight yellow tone to it, with bar glitters, blue stars, yellow blossoms (or suns), and metallic hexes and glitters of red, brown and gold. Now, you all know I’m not the biggest fan of bar glitter, but they go so well in this topper. I definitely get a “western” sort of vibe. Plus, this polish has the option of being root beer scented! It wasn’t too strong of a scent, but I could definitely smell it. I did have to fish a bit for the suns, but the stars were easy to get out. This is 1 coat dabbed over Sinful Colors Snow Me White (2 coats):
The Nuclear Beverage Choice is a brown jelly base with shards of white and red and shimmers of gold. This is also scented, kind of like cola, but I found it to a bit more “spicy” smelling than just regular cola. (I like it a lot!) This is 3 coats, with Wet N Wild matte top coat:
Let’s shine it up, hmm? This is with 1 coat of Wet N Wild shiny top coat:
High Fructose Victory is a strawberry pink jelly base polish with gold stars, and gold, red, and orange hexes with scattered holographic effect. Pink polishes aren’t usually my thing, but honestly, I love the edginess to this polish! This is 3 coats, with Wet n Wild matte top coat:
1 coat of Wet N Wild shiny top coat:
Hey guess what? It glows in the dark as well! It glows orange for a little bit, before fading. Apologies, I’m still trying to work on my GITD pics. (Any tips from bloggers?)
Bonus black-light shot:
Quantum Fizz-ics is a blue jelly base polish with holographic silver stars, with holographic silver, blue, and purple hexes in various sizes. I did have to fish for the stars a bit. I absolutely love the addition of the purple hexes! This is 3 coats, with Wet N Wild matte top coat:
1 coat of Wet N Wild shiny top coat:
This one also glows in the dark, and it does last longer than High Fructose Victory. Even my husband noticed how bright it glowed!
You can get the scented polishes without the scent – just leave a note at checkout! I’d love to know what you think of these polishes – which is your favorite? I think this is a solid showing from a new(ish) indie, and I can’t wait to see what other inventive polishes they come up with!
I love those last glow in the dark ones so much! 🙂
They are pretty great, aren’t they?! Thanks Sarah!
These are so fun! I love the glitters and the glow!
Me too! Thanks, Brooke!
Another new brand for me to check out! Especially loving High Fructose Victory!
It is a great polish! Thanks Jamie!
I love jellies so these really speak to me! And the glitter topper is such an unusual color combo: I love it!
Doesn’t it just work, though? I like it too!
Great swatches on these colors. There fun ones and I like that some glow in the dark.
What a wonderful post! I love how the lacquer really makes each of the polishes pop! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your glow in the dark pictures, Jessica! Pure awesome!
Such original inspiration! And glow in the dark polishes are always so cool :).
I love the packaging too – I love how it’s individualized for each polish theme. I’m liking Nuclear Beverage Choice 🙂
I love when a maker cares enough to really think every aspect of the polish through. 🙂
I have never heard of this brand before. I’m loving those colors and that glow in the dark shot!!!! Wow!!
Thanks Jennifer! Imma keep practicing! 🙂
I think these are too sheer for me to wear on their own but I can see them looking fantastic over an opaque base.
Every once in awhile, I love a good sheer polish, but in real life, I’d probably layer them as well.
Love that these glow in the dark – really cool!
I love it too! Thanks! 🙂
I’m obsessed with the inspiration behind this collection! I love all the different labels on the bottles too. Super cute! Lovely swatches!
Aren’t the labels great? I think the inspiration is pretty amazing as well! 🙂
Wow, that’s a stunning collection!
I agree! 🙂
I really like the glitter topper 🙂
Me too, strangely! LOL!
Sun of Sassafras is nice!
Thanks, Valesha!
Beautiful swatches, I especially love the GitDs, they’re so bright!
Thank you, Lothwen!
These seem like some really fun polishes!! I really love Quantum Fizz-ics!
Me too! 🙂
