Good morning lovely readers! It’s Friday and the weekend, and for many of you, that might mean it’s date night. I see a lot of people on Facebook, twitter, and elsewhere asking about what to do on their nails for their date night, so I thought I would share with you two outfits and 3 manicures I’ve done for each outfit.
“Night Out With Friends” Outfit + Manicures
Let’s say you’re going out with your friends for a night out! Usually for a night out with friends, I’m going dressy-casual: a nice top, jeans, and sandals (or boots when it’s chillier).
For the first manicure, I’ve done a simple mix-n-match two-color manicure with Jessica Sharktooth and Color Club La Petit Mint-Sieur:
For the second manicure, I’ve punched up the simple manicure with some stripes of Jessica Tangerine Dreamz:
For the third manicure, I’ve also added some flowers:
“Date Night With Your Honey” Outfit + Manicures
A date night for my husband and I is a fairly rare thing – mainly because he hates going out and I have to drag him. So I tend to really dress up (and make him dress up!) and look nice in a dress and heels.
For the first manicure, I’ve started again with a mix-n-match two-color manicure, with Barielle Berry Posh and Taupe Notch (press samples):
For the second manicure, I’ve simply added a stripe of gray down the center of the ring finger:
For the third manicure, I added studs to the stripe, and dots on the rest of the nails with Sinful Colors Snow Me White:
Suggestions for Your Night Out Manicure!
Here are my suggestions for your night out manicure:
- Start out by making sure your nails are clipped/filed, clean, and apply base coat.
- Choose complementary colors to your outfit (including your shoes & other accessories).
- If you’re only going to a one-color manicure, make sure you create the maximum impact by choosing a striking color and cleaning up your manicure properly.
- If you’reย going to do a more complicated design, make sure you leave yourself enough time to complete it!
- Top your manicure with a good top coat (Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That, ellagee Glass, HK Girl are some of my favorites) and let dry. After all, you want your manicure to last all night through dinner, drinks, and other activities!
- From personal experience: either do your makeup before your nails, or make absolutely sure your nails are dry before doing your makeup. There’s nothing worse that having the perfect nails and then doing your makeup and smudging your nails (especially the tips)!
I’d love to know what you do for date night nails! Do you keep it simple, or do you tend to glam up your nails?ย I’d love to hear about the last date night or fun night out with friends that you’ve had!
great ideas!
Thanks Jacqui! ๐
Thank you Jacqui! ๐
Love Berry Posh and top notch together! I especially love them as the second option with the stripe on the accent nail. This was a really great idea for a post.
Thank you muchly!
Fun post! I love to see your manicure ideas. What strips do you recommend for creating stripes?
I use a long brush or straight nail vinyls. ๐
Thanks for responding! I think I’d be too shaky too use a brush. Any straight vinyls you prefer over others, or are they all about the same? Thanks for letting me pick your brain :0)
I really like the ones from nailvinyls.com, they aren’t too “sticky” on your nails. ๐
Thanks for the tip!
I love the flowers and the color combo of the first one!!! So creative!
Thank you! ๐
Love these ideas! …ummm can I just hire you to give me a manicure before date night?? LOL.
Haha! Sure! ๐
I can totally see where the inspiration came from. So cute
Thanks! ๐
Those are all such fabulous manicures!
Thanks Jamie!
Great ideas for manicures for a night out! Love all the ideas and how you expanded from one design to the next.
Thank you so much Lisa! ๐
I love the first mani! It reminds me of the beach!
Yes! Thank you! ๐
This is a cool post. I usually just go with whatever is on my nails at that moment (ofc it has to look neat and tidy, no chips etc). If I do happen to have more time or it’s a planned event, I’ll do a matching design, if I have little time, I just go with something simple – a matching colour and maybe some stamping or dots.. or an effective texture gradient ๐
I’m always going for dots, haha! ๐
Great looks! I love how they match, but aren’t too matchy-matchy ๐
Thank you! ๐
These are GORGEOUS. and I am obsessed over the color combo. I seriously am going to make an attempt and stripes, hoping they come out straight. Gorgeous manis!!!
Stripes are so easy if you pick up a set of straight nail vinyls! ๐
Both manis are great but that orange one is killer.
Thank you Phyrra! ๐
These are all adorable but I really like the third one from the first outfit!
Thanks Kirby! ๐
I love them both – but I’m always partial to dots ๐
Dots are my jam, man! ๐
I love your style! I want that girls night out top…
Such cute and easy mani ideas. I love your posts like this!
Haha my sister helped pick it out, it’s a great top to wear dressed up or down! ๐
I loved the flowers! Super cute!
Thank you! ๐
Very cute Jessica! ๐ I love seeing you create multiple nail looks with just a few polishes. ๐
It’s fun to see what you can do when constricted a bit, you know? ๐
that mint and orange mani is my favorite! Beautiful!
Thank you! I love it too. ๐
This was such a fun post to read! I really liked how to showed a progression with each design, great work!
Thank you Marisa! ๐
These are adorable! I really REALLY am obsessed with your final design for the first mani with the flowers added. SO CUTE!
Thank you Jenny! ๐
Love that third look for the girls night out – so cheerful and pretty <3.
Thank you Deborah! ๐
What a great idea for a post! I really like this and especially how you laid out the outfits!
Thank you Andrea! ๐
