Smokey Mountain Lacquers Scarecrow Blood + Cauldron Stew swatches + review

press sampleGood afternoon my lovely readers! I hope you are having a great weekend so far. For some reason I had weird dreams but I don’t remember any of them. Do you ever remember your dreams?

Today I have two polishes to show you from Smokey Mountain Lacquers‘ Halloween line: Scarecrow Blood and Cauldron Stew. This is my first experience with Smokey Mountain Lacquers and I was impressed with how easily both polishes flowed onto the nail. Each polish comes in a square-ish bottle, and comes with a flat brush.

Scarecrow Blood is a neon orange jelly polish. Fun fact: scarecrows freak me the eff out. When I was a kid, I watched a Twilight Zone episode (or was it the older Outer Limits?) where a guy was disguised as a scarecrow and went around murdering people. *shudders* (You now know how to freak me out. Please only use this knowledge for good and not evil!) Now, orange usually isn’t my thing, but I can definitely see using this with jelly sandwiches! This is 3 coats, with Wet N Wild matte top coat (it totally reminds me of candy corn!):

I also wanted to show this polish as a jelly sammich! I used 2 coats of Sephora by OPI If You’ve Got It, Haunt It (a blackened polish with holographic particles) on the top, followed by 1 coat of Scarecrow Blood:

Cauldron Stew is a to-die-for black jelly(ish) polish with red square glitters and small red holo glitters. The name reminds me of that scene in Hocus Pocus where Winifred, Sarah, and Mary are brewing up something special. Well, Kim at SML has brewed up something special with this polish! Literally, I put this on and was like….

Yeah, that’s pretty much my reaction. haha! The square glitters did want to come out, but you’re not going to have a lot on the brush with each swipe. With the jelly-ish consistency, it’s really neat to see the larger glitters layered over each other. Anyway, this is 3 coats with WnW matte top coat:

I’d love to know what your thoughts are about both of these polishes! What really creeps you out during Halloween time?

  1. The orange reminds me of last Halloween’s WnW Fantasy Makers Ghouls Rush In. Such a cool shade, and I’m not usually an orange polish fan. Your mattified version does look like candy corn! Makes me want some right meow 🙂 I dig the prices on these, too. Okay, what creeps me out during Halloween? Well, let’s just say I say extra prayers for the little black kitties this time of year.

  2. I love that you showed both of these glossy and with a matte coat! I never remember any of my dreams (if I even have them) and I’ve never been able to decide if that’s a good thing (no nightmares yay!) or a bad thing.
