Good morning everyone! Have you had a good week? I can’t believe it’s Friday already! I hope you are ready for a thorough review of the Makeup by One Direction Up All Night kit!
The kit comes in a collectible tin, and opens up to show 3 makeup looks on one side and the makeup on the other side:
First up is the eye and body crayon in “Stand Up.” This is a fairly thick and almost waxy feeling eye and body crayon. I can personally attest to the staying power of this, when I was washing the swatch off my hand, it did not want to come off.
Next is the creme lipstick in “I Should Have Kissed You.” This is a very bright pink! Though I don’t have a picture of it on my lips, it takes a couple of passes to get it on, and it’s very chalky looking on my lips. I can see this drying my lips out if I wore it for an extended period of time.
Next is the Liquilights UV Glow Gloss in “Taken.” This is a bubble-gum pink gloss, but it has some very lovely sparkles in it. The applicator seems a bit flimsy though. There is a slight sweet smell to it, but it is honestly not that bad, and there is no discernible taste either.
Then we have the “Little Black Dress” mascara. The insert I have says that this is a “volumizing formula, adds definition to any eye look.” I was not impressed with the mascara at all, it seemed almost like it was dried out. I had to use several coats (with wait time between) to build up enough that you could see that I had mascara on – and I have super light lashes, it shouldn’t be that hard!
Next up is the eyeshadow palette. There are four “velvety” eyeshadows and one cream glitter shadow. The powder eyeshadows, from light to dark, are: More Than This (pink-beige), Gotta Be You (grey-beige), Save You Tonight (bright blue), and Another World (navy-purple). The cream glitter eyeshadow is called Up All Night. I did experience quite a bit of fall-out with all of the shades. The two blues – Another World and Up All Night have a bit of glitter overlaying the actual eyeshadow part, so as you use it, you won’t get that glitter pay-off.
There are also 5 small stencil sheets included in this box. They’re pretty flimsy but they could be fun! Each stencil sheet comes with a small and big version of the same design. I did try to use the lightning one with the crayon, and yeah…you need a smaller eyeliner or pen to use with them.
Swatched here is 3 coats over OPI base coat, and with OPI top coat. I found no problems with formula, it wasn’t too thin or too thick. I adore this color! It’s slightly more green in person, my camera just didn’t want to pick that up. It does have quite the smell, though, I’m afraid.
I’ve used More Than This on my brow bone, Save You Tonight in my inner eye and in the crease, and Another World on my lid and blended out. I also used the eye crayon in Stand Up as a liner, and the Little Black Dress mascara. On my lips is the lip gloss from this kit as well.
