Quilted Twin Nails with Traditional & Gel polish

Good morning you awesome readers! πŸ™‚ Today I have a fun twin post for you! I was talking with Michelle from ManicTalons the other day and we were commiserating over our crooked middle fingers (seriously, it’s hard to show off polish when your middle finger and pinky finger wants to go different directions). We decided to do a twin post together! The fun thing about this twin post is that Michelle works primarily with gel polish, and I work with traditionalΒ polish. Let’s get to the design!

I had never done a quilted design, and Michelle wanted to try doing a quilted design with gel, so that’s what we’ve done: quilted with flowers. πŸ™‚ I’ve used China Glaze Thistle Do Nicely (pink) and China Glaze Four Leaf Clover (green) with Jessica Nail Polish Sharktooth.

My camera couldn’t begin to pick up how dang bright Thistle Do Nicely is, just trust me that it was insanely bright.

I have to admit that I really love this design! The quilted technique is still something I need to practice at, I had first tried indenting the polish with floss but that failed spectacularly. LOL. I actually did one thick coat of TDN, then let it dry and used striping tape before doing another thick coat of TDN to create a quilted look. Let’s take a peek at Michelle & I’s nails together:

Make sure you hop on over to ManicTalons and see what polishes Michelle used! I really love how her flowers came out (much more cohesive than mine!).

I also decided that this would qualify as something new for Finger Food’s Theme Buffet as well. πŸ™‚ Check out the rest of those at the blue frog:

Phew! I hope you like this twin post! I’d love to know what you think in the comments. πŸ™‚ Until tomorrow,

  1. So pretty! I want to try quilting but am scared the floss will cut into the mani, so will try it with striping tape. Haha my pinky always goes in the opposite direction in my swatches and will not budge!

    • That was the problem I had with the floss, hence why I tried with the striping tape. πŸ™‚ And sometimes I wish I could tape my pinky down to not go all wonky. LOL

  3. Crooked fingers has been a big topic of conversation at my house. We recently discovered that Peanut has really crooked pinkies! lol Apparently my bro and sil knew about it but never mentioned it since they’ve straightened out a lot. Now that he tries to grab everything and has some hand coordination, I noticed they were a little wonky. It’s ok, though–he’s still perfect. πŸ™‚ I still don’t see anything crooked about your fingers! Every time I see Sharktooth, I want to go wear it!
