Sailor Jerry Inspired Nail Art

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far. πŸ™‚ I’m so happy because it’s almost 40 degrees here and I’m loving the warm sunshine! You know you’re from Montana when it’s 40 degrees with snow on the ground and people are walking around in shorts and no jackets. LOL.

After receiving and playing around with the Floss Gloss polishes, I really wanted to do some fun nail art with them. I decided to try my hand at some Sailor Jerry tattoo inspired nail art. If you’re not familiar with that style, here are a few images to give you the feel of it:

I decided to try my hand at a swallow, and the heart with love emblazoned on it. I started with 2 coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff, then let that dry and put 2 coats of Floss Gloss BritBrit2000 over the top. I then used FG Faded, FG Party Bruise, OPI Color So Hot It Berns (red), OPI Need Sunglasses (yellow), and OPI In My Back Pocket (orange) to create the swallow, the heart, and the banner.

My poor swallow…it doesn’t look much like a swallow. I think I needed to make the tail skinnier. But, do you know how hard it was to create that swallow? haha! I am pretty happy with the overall look of this nail art, and I hope that you like it. I can’t wait to do more nail art looks inspired by Sailor Jerry tattoo art. I’d love to know your thoughts about this, so talk to me in the comments. πŸ˜‰

  1. Hey, I’m returning your review for the WPNFF blogger review. Thanks very much for visiting my blog. I’m really loving yours and your nail art. Love the name….it’s a motto to live by. I can tell you have put a lot of work into the formatting and your pictures, they look great. I was going to say an index page would be good, but your Pinterest link works as one! So I guess this is a useless review as I have no tips =(
I do have a question though- I haven’t really gotten into twitter yet and was wondering if it had a good nail art community? (I noticed you have a link to your twitter).

Thanks and keep up the great blog πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much for coming by, Chanfie! πŸ™‚ I really appreciate you returning the favor. πŸ™‚ I have never thought about having an index page, maybe that is something I should work on. I think twitter is great for hashtagging and getting outside of the beauty community, if that makes sense?

  2. Are you kidding? That swallow is AMAZING! I think the only reason it looks different is because it’s just a slight bit more “round” then the image you were referencing, but that’s just cause it has to fit on your nail. I think you did an INCREDIBLE job!

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing these beauties in the Best Of: Nail Art link party! I can’t wait to see what your next best is! xo
